Lilo & Stitch Live-Action News

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be part of the anticipation for the live-action release of Lilo & Stitch, hitting theaters on May 23, 2025! The original animated movie was a massive hit, earning over 270 million dollars, and with Disney consistently excelling in their sequels and remakes, I have high hopes that this version will surpass expectations as well. So let’s all get ready to embrace a fresh take on our beloved blue alien friend!

The upcoming live-action adaptation is being directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, with screenplay written jointly by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, Dean DeBlois, and Chris Sanders, the original creator. This combination of veteran and fresh talents gives a promising outlook for this remake. A successful blend of familiar nostalgia and innovative storytelling is what these adaptations should aim for. Let’s hope this creative team can strike that balance effectively.

Tia Carrere, who played Nani in the original film, shared with PEOPLE that you’ll notice characters similar to herself and Jason Scott Lee in the new version. She added that there will be references (Easter eggs) for those who watched it initially as well as for the younger audience joining in.

Lilo & Stitch hits theaters May 23, 2025.
