Beginning in the current month, you’ll have the opportunity to watch all five films from the Final Destination series on a single streaming platform – Max. As of Friday, February 1st, they added the first three movies along with Final Destination 5, which were previously not available. This is perfect timing since the sixth movie, Final Destination Bloodlines, will be released in theaters on May 16, 2025. Keep in mind that streaming platforms often change their content, so it’s uncertain how long this convenient collection will remain. If you wish to rewatch the entire series before seeing the new movie, it would be wise to do so soon, as they might eventually disappear from the service.
It’s been 14 years since we last saw a “Final Destination” film, marking the longest gap between sequels in the series. Contrary to expectations, “Bloodlines” is not a reboot but rather a deep dive into the franchise’s most enigmatic folklore. The movie will delve more into the character of William Bludworth (played by Tony Todd), a funeral director who appears to have some sort of supernatural link with death itself.
In other words, when viewing the first five “Final Destination” movies again, viewers should pay close attention to Bludworth. He made his debut in the original film released in 2000, seeming to mock the survivors about their fate. He reappeared in “Final Destination 2”, but then he was not seen in the franchise until “Final Destination 5”.
One method of rephrasing for easier reading: Similar to numerous horror series, the Final Destination movies often find it challenging to maintain continuity with recurring characters and overarching narratives due to the inherent nature of the genre, where a significant number of characters meet their demise in each film. If a principal character appears too vital to perish, it can disrupt the narrative’s tension. Bludworth serves as an effective solution for this issue, as he has a logical reason to recur and dispenses information, occasionally giving the impression that he is allied with Death himself.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m eagerly awaiting the premiere of “Bloodlines,” but there’s still so much we don’t know! We’ve only seen a teaser, no full-length trailer yet, despite it wrapping up filming back in May 2024. The talented duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein directed this film, with a script penned by Guy Busick, Lori Evans Taylor, and Jon Watts. What’s more, it was shot for the grandeur of IMAX!
It’s often worthwhile to think about using physical media when you want to binge-watch a series like “Final Destination”. All the films in the series are available as part of a five-disc collection, which comes in both Blu-ray and DVD formats. The price is quite affordable, with the DVD collection starting at around $9.96, and the Blu-ray priced at $24.98. But, if you’re a Max subscriber, you can stream all five “Final Destination” movies at the same time.
