The debut of Monday Night Raw by WWE on Netflix was a glitzy event, filled with current champions, legends, and famous personalities. However, one appearance didn’t go as intended, leading to a strong disapproval from the LA audience during Hulk Hogan‘s segment. Recently, Hogan discussed this response on The Pat McAfee show, admitting that he anticipated such a reaction. When questioned about it, Hogan mentioned that while some of it was due to his political views, there was another reason that might surprise you – you can watch the video explanation here (as provided by WrestleOps).
McAfee believed that the reaction was unexpected, while Hogan claimed he did anticipate it. Hogan stated, “Yes, I did. Some of it was due to the political aspect, but let me remind you, when I ran hard in LA before, I was seen as a villain. I was known as Hollywood Hogan, and I was associating with unsavory characters such as Nash and Hall. We were often seen spray-painting properties and giving ‘crotch shots’ to everyone. So the last time I was there, I played the heel, or the villain. However, I think politics had a significant role in it, as you suggested.
At the end of the event, we took a second look at the results the following day and found that our impressions totaled 11 billion. Compared to other notable figures who were there, we had almost triple the impressions, reaching approximately 3 billion each. Now, I’m not pointing fingers, but let’s just say it was quite a difference!” – Hogan said.
Before wrapping up the topic, Hogan felt compelled to share an extra thought due to the partnership and the Real American brand being central to it. In a normal wrestling scenario, he might have reacted differently, but this time he chose not to. Then, he shared what his response would have been if this hadn’t been a special case.
Well, to clarify, my focus was on the beer issue. You know, we’re partners with WWE in this, and I needed to play the good guy during that time in LA. But if this were about wrestling and they betrayed me like that, I would have become a Hulk Hogan-like figure. It seems you dislike me for all the work I’ve done for Make-a-Wish Foundation and your own children. Let me tell you, I did it primarily for financial reasons,” Hogan explained.
Additionally, given your apparent desire for intense dislike, I hope you enjoy the situation when Kamala Harris becomes your governor, and you’re all in line for soup kitchens. I’d say ‘mic drop, see ya’, but I couldn’t do that. I was prepared to take them on.” (This version maintains the original sentiment but is more polite and less confrontational.)
