Bandai Namco announced that Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has sold over 5 million copies globally, confirming its success as a massive hit.
As a gamer, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the success of that nostalgic anime fighter we got last October. In its first day alone, it flew off shelves, selling over 3 million copies! Since then, it’s continued to soar, adding an additional 2 million sales to its tally. To top it all off, this game has now set a new record as the fastest-selling Dragon Ball title on console – talk about a win for fans like me!
The anticipation for Sparking! Zero soared sky-high before its launch, as it was marketed as a genuine heir to the beloved Budokai Tenkaichi series that once ruled the gaming world.
In that first surge, nostalgia played a significant role, yet it was further enhanced because Dragon Ball has been experiencing a revival lately. This resurgence is largely due to the release of Dragon Ball Super’s manga, anime, and films. The game Zero capitalizes on this by offering numerous playable characters from Super.
Even though they are distinct video games, Sparking! Zero needs to sell an additional 3 million units to match the 8 million sales that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot achieved last year.
It’s evident that Dragon Ball continues to generate significant revenue for Bandai Namco, so it wouldn’t come as a shock if they announce another major adaptation soon.
Are you pleased with how Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is faring? Let’s avoid using numbers in our conversation, if possible.
