Kelsey Grammer Opens Up About 30-Year Feud with Ted Danson and Their Recent Reconciliation

Kelsey Grammer and Ted Danson are toasting to new beginnings of their friendship.

After three decades, it seems that the costars of “Cheers” have plenty of pub conversations to reminisce about. Kelsey Grammer, who played Dr. Frasier Crane in the series before starring in his own spinoff, recently shared how a misunderstanding on set ignited a long-lasting dispute with Danson.

In an interview with the New York Post on January 31st, I admitted that the situation may have been overexaggerated. To clarify, there wasn’t a full-blown argument between us. At the time the rift started, I was grappling with a significant amount of self-doubt and negative feelings towards myself. It was during a period when I was consuming alcohol more frequently than usual.

Ted had expressed his frustration that I wasn’t always ready to jump into things at the moment he needed me. I acknowledged his sentiment, saying “I respect that,” and that was essentially the crux of the matter.

In that moment, the 69-year-old believed there was no hostility during their discussion. Yet, over time, their bond encountered an obstacle and they found themselves not communicating for quite a few years.

Reflecting on past events, Grammer speculated if Danson intentionally created space to preserve their friendship in the long run. “Perhaps he needed to guard himself,” suggested the former star of Frasier. “I’m not completely sure. But I said ‘Thank you.’ We were okay with that.

Although Danson and Woody Harrelson grew apart while working together for seven years on Cheers, they’ve managed to maintain a strong friendship in the ensuing decades.

I’ve been keeping in contact with Woods a bit more frequently compared to my interactions with Ted, as you can see. This is a dynamic friendship, as evidenced by our recent email exchange last week. We continue to maintain our connection.

Four months after reconciling in October, Grammer’s contemplative remarks were made, following his appearance on Danson and Harrelson’s “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast. During this reunion, the former star of “The Good Place,” who worked with Grammer briefly on “Frasier” back in 1995, expressed regret for the tension that marked their earlier encounter, and offered an apology.

That incident is deeply etched in our recollections, but it seems… I can’t quite put my finger on it. For the past 30 years, I feel like I’ve been missing out on Kelsey Grammer’s career. Danson, at 77, expressed his regret about their estrangement, saying ‘I’m sorry to both of us that I didn’t act. I truly apologize.’

Danson and Grammer aren’t the only celebrities who’ve been caught up in a feud. Read on for more…

In January 2024, roughly two months following his departure from Queer Eye after an impressive eight-season run, Bobby (depicted to the far left) publicly addressed speculations about a strain in his relationship with Tan (in the center).

He assured Vanity Fair, “Tan and I are okay, we’ll manage just fine.” He added, “There was an issue, and it’s a private matter between us, unrelated to the show. It was a personal matter that had been developing for some time – and to make it clear, there was nothing romantic involved.

In March 2024, Tan addressed accusations claiming that he attempted to get Jeremiah Brent instead of Bobby on the show “Queer Eye”.

He shared on Instagram that Netflix and the production companies conducted a thorough casting process. He didn’t recommend his friend for the role, as they secured it based on their qualifications being the perfect fit. Contrary to some speculation, he didn’t ensure their hiring by eliminating other candidates.

In a December 2023 episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear,” Holly Marie Combs, Shannen’s former co-star on “Charmed,” claimed that Alyssa had demanded a choice from a show producer: either herself or Shannen. This alleged ultimatum reportedly led to Shannen’s departure from the show in 2001.

In February 2024, Alyssa posted on Instagram, “I didn’t possess the ability to terminate anyone’s employment,” and further stated that “these incidents occurred so far in the past that any recounting of them by anyone now feels like a reinterpretation or distortion of history.

The following day, Shannen asserted at a panel discussion during MegaCon Orlando, “I stand by the truth as I know it; there’s no rewriting or distortion of history taking place.

Shannen passed away in July 2024 after a yearslong battle with cancer.

In September 2023, while engaged in a game called Stir the Pot on TopMob News with her daughter Kelly Osbourne, Sharon expressed that the alum from That ’70s Show was the most impolite celebrity she had ever encountered. She labeled him as “very rude” not once but multiple times and referred to him as a “naughty little boy” and a “dastardly little character.

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

Approximately five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that when Ashton appeared on the show “The Talk” in 2014, he displayed a certain attitude towards her following an error in referring to his name.

She remembered him saying, “‘Who are you? What have you accomplished in this field?'” To which she responded, “Boy, don’t challenge me, because I’ll trounce you and leave you behind. So I simply said, ‘You haven’t got a clue about what you’re getting into, kid.’

In August of 2022, Cassadee and Maren had a heated exchange with Brittany, the spouse of country singer Jason Aldean, following her Instagram post on August 23rd where she showcased herself applying makeup and wrote, “I’m grateful to my parents for not altering my gender during my tomboy phase. I adore this feminine lifestyle.

In a TikTok challenge in 2022, JoJo Siwa labeled Candace Cameron Bure as the “rudest” celebrity she had encountered. This was after an incident on a red carpet where Bure declined to take a photo with her. However, following this comment, the actress from Full House apologized to Siwa: “I guess I crushed your 11-year-old spirit when I didn’t take a picture with you. I feel terrible about it.

The two individuals reconciled their differences. However, several months passed before Candace was questioned about whether the network she oversees as chief creative officer, Great American Family, would portray same-sex couples as main characters in holiday films. She responded negatively, stating, “I believe that Great American Family will uphold traditional marriage as a fundamental aspect.

In 2021, JoJo publicly identified as part of the LGBTQ+ community and expressed on Instagram that the actress’ remark was “unnecessarily disrespectful and painful to an entire group of individuals.

In June 2021, Courtney Love alleged that Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover of her band Hole for a promotional picture without giving proper credit. Rodrigo responded with “I love you and I live through this so much.” To which Courtney replied, “Olivia, you’re welcome! My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London – feel free to message me for details! I can’t wait to read your response [winking face emoji].

During an episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” the actor from “Happy Days” was questioned as to why he had strained relations with the “Forrest Gump” actor while filming the 1989 movie “Turner & Hooch.

For 13 days, I had been overseeing the production of that movie, but then I was summoned to Jeff Katzenberg’s office, where he told me, “Have all your things ready? You can go home,” he stated.

Winkler appeared to be friendly with Hanks’ canine co-star. He stated, “We got along wonderfully, really well together.” “I adore that dog,” he added.

He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”

Supporters of the show “The Hills” may recall that memorable phrase, spoken by Lauren during the third season’s debut. Their conflict originated when Heidi began dating her current spouse, Spencer Pratt, and reached its zenith when Lauren accused Heidi and Spencer of spreading a rumor suggesting she had made a sex tape with Jason Wahler.

Tension between costars resurfaced when Tyrese criticized Dwayne on Instagram after the release date for Fast and Furious 9 was moved to April 2020. On the same day, it became known that a Fast and Furious spinoff featuring Dwayne and Jason Statham would premiere in 2019. A month later, Tyrese announced his intention to leave Fast 9 if Dwayne remained part of the production.

Later on, Tyrese discussed the ongoing disagreement, confiding in Van Lathan during an episode of the “The Red Pill” podcast by stating, “So far, I haven’t spoken to The Rock directly, but we will have a discussion.” He revealed that he did engage in a conversation with the producer associated with The Rock, however, not with the actor himself.

In a nutshell, Tyrese admitted that he was the one who publicly expressed feelings on behalf of multiple people connected to the franchise, while others remained private. He acknowledges this was his mistake and considers it unprofessional and inappropriate.

No more bad blood here.

For several years, Taylor and Katy had been embroiled in a bitter rivalry, with the conflict supposedly leading to Taylor’s creation of the song “Bad Blood.” The disagreement, which apparently began due to a shared backup dancer and competing tours, was resolved when Perry extended an olive branch – literally – to Taylor just before her Reputation Tour commenced.

In an Instagram video, Taylor expressed, “I’ve just discovered a real olive branch in my dressing room. It means a lot to me.

Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

For many years, speculations about a rift between co-stars Kim and Sarah Jessica Parker in the show “Sex and the City” had been put to rest. However, these rumors resurfaced when Kim chose not to rejoin for a third film and made certain remarks about her fellow actor that left people questioning their relationship.

On the September 2017 edition of “Watch What Happens Live”, Andy Cohen inquired about your response when Kim Cattrall stated that you were merely colleagues, not friends.

She conveyed her feelings by saying, “I’m absolutely devastated. We had several conversations about this throughout the week, and I must admit, it was very distressing for me as this isn’t how I remember our interaction.

She expressed, “It’s unfortunate, yet somehow…I can’t quite put it into words, but I believe it’s the unique shared experience that binds us. Though it was a professional journey, over the years it transformed into something deeply personal. So I hope this long-standing bond overshadows any more recent discussions.” She added, “Sharing so much time doing something extraordinary together is truly a special privilege.

And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

The legendary musicians have had a long-standing dispute since 2004. During the Q Awards where he received the Classic Songwriter Award that year, Elton John made a statement to the audience, “Madonna, considered the best live performer? That’s absurd! When did miming become live? Apologies for my language, but I believe anyone who mimes on stage in public, especially when you pay around 75 pounds to watch them, should be criticized.

In 2008, the actress who previously starred on Grey’s Anatomy caused a disagreement with the show’s creator by deciding not to be considered for Emmy Awards. She explained that her action was due to not receiving the script parts worthy of a nomination.

Later on, Shonda discussed Katherine’s choice during an interview with Oprah Winfrey on ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ in 2012. She stated, “On one hand it hurt and on the other I wasn’t shocked. When people reveal their true selves to you, take them at their word. I often hold onto that advice, as it has benefited me greatly.”

During the New York Fashion Week, an argument between Nicki and Cardi that made headlines globally took place at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party. A month later, Cardi revealed what sparked the disagreement with Nicki.

Cardi stated in W magazine’s Art Issue that for some time now, she has been subjected to numerous attacks from someone. They had spoken twice previously, reaching a mutual understanding, but the person continued with their actions.

The main cause of the dispute ignited when Cardi perceived that Nicki might have initially ‘favorited’ and later ‘unfavorited’ a tweet criticizing Cardi’s parenting abilities, which Nicki has since refuted.

Cardi B stated, “I had the chance to earn millions from my Bruno Mars tour, but I chose to stay with my daughter instead. ‘I adore my child,’ she added. ‘I’m a fantastic mother. It’s hard for those without children to understand this, but I won’t tolerate such comments. People may say that the occasion wasn’t suitable for such a discussion, but I wouldn’t confront another artist in a grocery store or on the street.

The conflict between Kanye and Taylor Swift began in 2009 during her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, where Kanye interrupted her to take the stage himself. Despite reconciling years later and even forming a friendship, their relationship deteriorated again in 2026 following the release of his song “Famous,” which mentions Taylor Swift.

On the eve of the Grammy Awards in February 2025, Kanye modified his Instagram account to solely follow Taylor. Without any additional explanation, Kanye’s action went unanswered by the other artist in a public manner.

“I don’t know her.”

The ongoing dispute between Mariah and J.Lo dates back over 15 years. The conflict began when Mariah, often referred to as the Queen of Christmas, was asked for her thoughts on various singers in an interview. When questioned about Jennifer, she simply stated, “I’m not familiar with her.
