Anthony Mackie’s Captain America Takes on Juggernaut in Epic X-Men Team-Up

In a new role, Anthony Mackie will lead as the patriotic superhero, Captain America. The upcoming film titled “Captain America: New World Order” sees Sam Wilson (Mackie) confronting numerous evil villains. These include Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito), a long-time adversary of Captain America, as well as Samuel Sterns/the Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) and U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk (Harrison Ford). The latter has been at odds with “enhanced individuals” since his first appearance in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War” up until the recent release of “Black Widow“, where he was portrayed by the late William Hurt.

After battling formidable foes like Hydra, Helmut Zemo, Thanos and the Black Order, as well as the Flag Smashers, Mackie proposes that his Captain America should challenge the relentless Juggernaut next.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but express my excitement about potentially adding some of those X-Men antagonists to the mix. Specifically, I’m talking about the Juggernaut gang – those guys are just too intriguing! The idea of engaging in combat scenes with their unique abilities is simply thrilling. It’s not that I think they’re the greatest villains out there, but rather, it’s the thought of squaring off against their powerful abilities, especially given my own abilities, that makes for an enticing prospect.

Mackie determined that Sam wouldn’t use the super soldier serum like Captain America (Chris Evans), but instead, he possesses powers akin to the Black Panther’s, which allows him to absorb and subsequently release kinetic energy from his suit made of Wakandan vibranium.

Mackie expresses his belief that Sam won’t use the serum, stating that he embodies the everyday person’s version of Captain America. This idea of a normal individual suddenly thrust into leadership resonates with many people. Therefore, he believes it’s crucial for Sam to not receive the serum, as this would remove him from the realm where ordinary people could aspire to become Captain America.

In the comics, Cain Marko, Charles Xavier’s stepbrother and an adversary of Xavier’s mutant team, is the most recognized Juggernaut. First appearing in 1965’s “X-Men” #12 as a foe to Xavier’s group of mutants, Marko was granted powers by the ruby red Gem of Cyttorak, becoming an avatar of Cyttorak the Destroyer. As Juggernaut, Marko is virtually unstoppable and invulnerable, able to engage in combat with the Hulk.

He’s part of various powerful teams such as X-Men, Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Thunderbolts, Red Skull’s New World Order, the Unstoppables, and the Exemplars. These teams are associated with mystic entities: Cyttorak, Balthakk, Farallah, Ikonn, Krakkan, Valtorr, Watoomb, and Raggadoor, which have eight champions in total.

On February 14th, you can catch Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: A New World Order,” featuring Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, alongside Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford, exclusively in theaters.
