In their recent presentation, Capcom didn’t unveil any fresh gameplay for the anticipated sequel of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which is part of the renowned hack-and-slash series. Instead, they shared some new insights, such as confirming a new main character and introducing various types of enemies.
Akihito Kadowaki, the producer, and game director Satoru Nihei detailed three primary elements of the game. The first focuses on captivating characters, featuring an extraordinary ensemble, while the second emphasizes the setting – Kyoto during the Edo period. It’s rich in enigmatic locations with disturbing pasts and a share of intrigue (as one would anticipate from a city inhabited by Genma).
The third option is labeled as ‘epic sword-fighting sequences,’ and although specifics are still undisclosed, Kadowaki has verified that it will include dismemberment and graphic violence. Naturally, the main character is also equipped with the Oni Gauntlet, a tool used to extract souls from vanquished foes.
In 2026, you’ll be able to play Onimusha: Way of the Sword on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. As we move closer to that date, keep an eye out for further information and updates over the next few months.
