Bindi Irwin Opens Up About Her Hidden Health Struggles with Endometriosis

Bindi Irwin is sharing more about her harrowing health journey.

26-year-old Terri and Steve Irwin’s daughter has shared insights into the findings of a surgical procedure done to excise lesions after her endometriosis diagnosis was confirmed.

Bindi explained during a recent episode of the “A Life of Greatness” podcast that she had a large, chocolate-like growth on her ovary which had stuck it to her side. She was experiencing intense pain and for some reason, this growth didn’t show up in scans. It seemed to be ideally placed and it was causing damage to the inside of her ovary.

Besides the physical pain she experienced due to a chocolate cyst (an ovarian cyst containing old blood caused by endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside it, as explained by Cleveland Clinic), and the more than 30 lesions her doctors discovered, also took a toll on her social life.

This illness led to numerous changes in plans,” Bindi explained. “I imagine people might have seen me as unreliable due to my frequent instances of feeling sick, which often resulted in vomiting. I was constantly plagued by pain.

Amidst her personal hardships, Bindi – mother of 3-year-old Grace with husband Chandler Powell – confined her distress to her close circle, which included her mom and brother Robert Irwin. However, moving ahead, she plans to adopt a new strategy.

I find myself passionately advocating for this cause so frequently,” I confide, “urging fellow women and girls to seek assistance when faced with challenging menstrual experiences. After all, enduring severe period pain can be downright terrifying, and it’s crucial we don’t ignore such a serious condition.

As for how the wildlife conservationist is doing these days? She’s full of gratitude.

Bindi expressed her deep appreciation for having recovered from surgery. She mentioned that while there’s no permanent cure for endometriosis, undergoing surgery can significantly improve one’s quality of life. In the future, she might require another operation, but at this moment, she’s thankful to be free from it.
