ITV has announced that actor Jimmi Harkishin, known for his role as Dev Alahan on Coronation Street for nearly 25 years, is planning to take some time off in the upcoming period.

Initially, it was The Mirror who broke the news about Harkishin’s departure. They mentioned that a future plotline involves Dev embarking on a journey to India.

It appears that the character is planning to depart from the cobblestones, as he wants to be with his loved ones following the news of Aunt Gita’s fall.

Leaving behind his companion Bernie and kids Aadi and Asha, it is Aadi who will take over the management duties for both the kebab shop and the convenience store.

He will be back on screens in the spring.

Beginning in 1999, Harkishin made her debut on the soap opera and has remained a familiar face in Weatherfield consistently since then.

Coronation Street recently revealed that two fresh actors, Farrel Hegarty and Joe Layton, will be joining the cast as the troublesome neighbors of Chesney and Gemma, named Lou and Mick Michaelis.

Regarding her new position, Hegarty expressed her joy and gratitude for becoming part of the Coronation Street cast. She was genuinely taken aback by the extraordinary warmth and kindness shown by everyone.

Playing Lou is undeniably intriguing since she’s complex, featuring both positive and negative traits. She’s vibrant, brimming with energy and vitality.

While speaking, Layton expressed his delight saying, “Walking on the iconic streets of Coronation Street in Mick’s footsteps is truly thrilling, as this show has such a significant place in British television.
