Although he hasn’t had any significant discussions with director Ryan Coogler (who is currently working on Sinners), Moore mentioned that they would be open to collaborating with Washington. He stated, “It’s still too early to say, but if an actor of Denzel Washington’s talent expresses interest, we’ll find a way to make it work.
Regarding potential characters Washington might play in the MCU, Moore was somewhat cryptic, but hinted that “it’s likely going to be someone who already exists within the comics.” This suggests that Washington could embody a character from the comic books rather than one invented solely for the movie.
In November 2024, Washington himself grabbed headlines when he disclosed that Coogler was crafting a role specifically for him in the upcoming Black Panther film. This tidbit of information took many by surprise, as Marvel Studios had not yet confirmed the development of Black Panther 3 at that point. Later on, Washington admitted to having called Coogler to express his regret for prematurely sharing the news about the project.
Approximately four weeks following Washington’s fall, it was verified that Marvel was developing Black Panther 3. At present, no release date has been set for the film, and specific plot details are being guarded as secrets. There have been whispers that Marvel Studios may consider recasting the character of T’Challa for this movie, but those rumors were dismissed by Moore in an interview with egmr.ru.
Known for his two Academy Awards and numerous other prestigious awards, Denzel Washington is often hailed as one of the greatest actors ever. It’s no surprise that Marvel Studios might want to collaborate with him given his versatility in playing diverse characters, from heroic figures to menacing villains.
