Anne of Green Gables’ New Anime Hypes Release Date & Trailer: Watch

Answer Studio has unveiled a fresh trailer for their upcoming “Anne Shirley” anime, which is based on the beloved Canadian children’s novel “Anne of Green Gables.” This new series is a Japanese take on the original book, specifically adapting the manga version of it. The brief clip showcases Anne Shirley navigating her youthful journey, emphasizing her lively spirit and young age. Answer Studio also revealed a poster for the anime, depicting Anne sprinting through fields with her foster siblings. The “Anne Shirley” anime is set to premiere on April 5th and will span over 24 episodes.

The initial book in a collection about Anne Shirley, titled “Anne of Green Gables,” was published in 1908. In this novel, readers meet Anne as an 11-year-old orphan who is mistakenly adopted by a family living in the fictional town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island, Canada. The subsequent Anne Shirley books trace her journey into adulthood. The upcoming anime adaptation will mainly focus on the events of the first book, but may incorporate elements from later books as well. The original “Anne of Green Gables” has achieved tremendous success worldwide, particularly in Japan, and remains one of the most popular children’s books globally.

The Enduring Popularity of Anne Shirley Across the Globe

Over the years, stories about Anne Shirley have been widely adapted across various media platforms, with numerous films tracing their roots back to the silent era. One notable adaptation is an anime series called “Red-Haired Anne,” which was produced in Japan in 1979 as part of Nippon Animation’s World Masterpiece Theater. A compilation film of the first six episodes from this series was screened at the Ghibli Museum in 2010. The upcoming Anne Shirley anime seems to be a modern retelling or remake of the classic “Red-Haired Anne” show.

Besides being brought to life on anime, the character Anne Shirley has also been featured in radio plays and stage productions. The latest significant adaptation of this story, “Anne with an E” from Netflix, was geared towards a slightly older audience compared to its predecessors. However, despite strong fan support, the series was unexpectedly ended after just three seasons by Netflix.
