Happy Gilmore 2: Netflix Shares Cameo-Filled Video From Adam Sandler Sequel

Netflix is preparing for the release of Happy Gilmore 2, giving us a sneak peek from the golf course. On Wednesday, the streaming service unveiled a backstage video featuring the professional golfers who will appear in the upcoming movie. The film follows the story of Happy Gilmore, an unskilled hockey player-turned-golf champion with a remarkable 400-yard drive, played by Adam Sandler. Some of the golf stars joining the cast are Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris. In the video, they can be seen hanging out and playing with Sandler, as well as his returning co-star Christopher McDonald portraying Shooter McGavin.

Scheffler remarks that the 1996 golf-themed comedy, which also featured Carl Weathers as Happy’s coach and mentor, Derick “Chubbs” Peterson, evokes many nostalgic memories for him. McIlroy expresses his amazement at being a part of it, acknowledging that this is an entirely new experience for him.

The video concludes by featuring Ben Stiller once more, reprising his role as Hal, the mustachioed and grumpy orderly from the original. In the scene, he says to Thomas, who is part of the Netflix series on the PGA Tour, “I’ve been enjoying Full Swing, it’s really good.

I’m thrilled to be a part of the exciting cast for “Happy Gilmore 2“! Joining returning stars Adam Sandler, Julia Bowen as Virginia Venit, and Steve McDonald, we have some fantastic new additions. These include Bad Bunny from “Bullet Train”, Ethan Cutkosky known for his role in “Shameless”, Scott Mescudi/Kid Cudi who starred in “Knuckles”, Margaret Qualley from “The Substance”, Benny Safdie, a co-director of Sandler’s film “Uncut Gems”, fellow collaborator Nick Swardson from “The Benchwarmers”, and AEW wrestler MJF (Maxwell Jacob Friedman). We also have special appearances by NFL player Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, pro hockey player Conor Sherry of the Syracuse Crunch, and rapper Eminem. I can’t wait to see this talented group come together on set!

In the original script, Sandler and Tim Herlihy teamed up to write it, and they did the same for the sequel. The director of this project is Kyle Newacheck (known for “Murder Mystery”), while Dennis Dugan (“Happy Gilmore” director) serves as executive producer. Similar to “Happy Gilmore,” Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds are involved in producing this new movie, alongside Sandler himself.

I’m just as eager as you are to learn more about the specifics of Happy Gilmore 2, but unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t revealed the release date yet for streaming this highly anticipated sequel.
