Nintendo Switch Just Got a Must-Have Collection of Classic Sega and NES Gems!

As an ardent gaming enthusiast with fond memories of classic titles, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! This year, a Nintendo Switch Collection is set to drop, featuring iconic games originally released on Sega, NES, and SNES platforms. Although the official release date hasn’t been announced yet, it’s something we should all watch out for as the year unfolds. For those of us who owned an NES, SNES, Mega CD, or Sega Master System back in the day, this collection is a must-have addition to our gaming library. What’s more, those who spent their afternoons at arcades towards the end of the previous century may also find themselves drawn to this remarkable compilation. Stay tuned!

The game collection, titled Operation Night Strikers, is being distributed by publisher Taito and developer M2. They plan to launch it this year, with the current platforms being PC and Nintendo Switch. At the moment, there’s no information about its release on PlayStation or Xbox consoles, or even the potential Nintendo Switch 2. However, if it doesn’t arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2, it can still be played on the system through backward compatibility.

Currently, there are four classic games set to be included in the collection: Operation Wolf, available on Arcade, Famicom, NES, and SEGA Master System; Operation Thunderbolt, playable on Arcade and SNES; Night Striker, found on Arcade and Mega CD; and Space Gun, which can be played on Arcade and SEGA Master System.

Previously, it was only mentioned that this compilation would release on PC. However, there’s exciting news – it’s now set for Nintendo Switch as well! Additionally, you might be surprised to learn that Operation Thunderbolt and Space Gun were not initially announced to be part of the package. In a delightful twist, news about this collection arriving on the Nintendo Switch platform has been unveiled alongside the announcement of a new Night Striker game, Night Striker Gear, which will also debut on both PC and Nintendo Switch later in 2022.

Apart from announcing an exact launch date, neither M2 nor Taito have disclosed the pricing details for their upcoming collection. Moreover, they haven’t released any trailers showcasing the collection yet either.

The collection is referred to as containing “loyal adaptations,” but it also includes some contemporary enhancements. For instance, there are features that mimic arcade screens for a more authentic experience. Additionally, new features such as save and load options, player rankings, replay capabilities, and compatibility with the Cyber Stick intelligent controller have been added to the collection.
