In a fresh update for “Marvel’s Vision,” actor Ruaridh Mollica, who was recently seen in HBO’s satirical series “The Franchise” about the production of superhero franchise movies, has been confirmed as a regular cast member on the Disney+ show stemming from “WandaVision.” Sources claim that Mollica will portray a character named Tucker, although it remains unclear whether this is an original creation or a disguise to hide the character’s true identity within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Mollica has joined the cast of the most recent Marvel Television series. This production features Paul Bettany as the artificial intelligence-turned-synthezoid superhero Vision, James Spader playing Ultron from ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, Faran Tahir reprising his role as Raza from 2008’s ‘Iron Man’, and Todd Stashwick (from ‘Star Trek: Picard’) portraying an undisclosed character. Terry Matalas, known for ‘Picard’, takes on the roles of executive producer and head writer for this series produced by Kevin Feige, making it the second spin-off from ‘WandaVision’ after last year’s ‘Agatha All Along’.
2021’s “WandaVision” brought back the S.W.O.R.D., short for Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division, who resurrected the white-colored android version of the Avenger, Vision, following his demise at the hands of Thanos in 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War”. The show was originally titled “Vision Quest“, a reference to a comic book storyline where the organization Vigilance took apart and erased Vision’s memory after he hacked almost every computer system on Earth.
Previously, Mockingbird, who used to work for S.H.I.E.L.D., discovered that Project Vigilance had orchestrated the Ultron impostor that aimed to mislead the West Coast Avengers, allowing them to capture Vision (as seen in West Coast Avengers #42). In the subsequent issue, she aided Wanda Maximoff in penetrating Section 31 of Vigilance to retrieve her husband’s robotic form. It was later disclosed by Project Vigilance’s director, Cameron Brock, that Vigilance was a global collaboration — involving the American CIA, British MI-7, Canadian Secret Service, French Deuxieme Bureau, and Russian KGB — aimed at extracting sensitive data from the Vision after he had been briefly corrupted.
In part, the television series WandaVision drew inspiration from the film Vision Quest, as the character’s death and subsequent resurrection as the White Vision resulted in a surprising disclosure about the Vision and the Scarlet Witch’s offspring, Tommy and Billy Maximoff.
Initially, Deadline broke the news about Mollica’s role. It’s anticipated that Marvel’s Vision series will debut on Disney+ in the year 2026.
