Hasbro Entertainment and Legendary Entertainment are collaborating on a project, which includes not only the production of films and television shows, but also the creation of extra content as they continue to build their growing universe.
Initially launched by Wizards of the Coast back in 1993, Magic: The Gathering marked the beginning of trading card games. By the year 2022, this game had grown to bring in more than a billion dollars annually in revenue.
In this game, characters are depicted as powerful wizard combatants known as Planeswalkers. Each card drawn from the deck symbolizes a potent magical incantation they can employ during combat. This game is distinguished by its intricate strategies and detailed regulations.
Mary Parent, Chairman of Global Production at Legendary Entertainment, expressed her thoughts about the announcement in this way: “We take great pride in being careful custodians of unique, cherished intellectual properties, and there’s no asset more fitting for such care than Magic: The Gathering.
Working hand-in-hand with the amazing Hasbro crew, we eagerly anticipate building a captivating multi-media realm that delights existing enthusiasts while attracting a vast number of new ones.
In the past, Legendary has tackled gaming adaptations, with projects like Pokemon: Detective Pikachu and an upcoming film titled A Minecraft Movie already under their belt.
