It appears that Marvel Studios has started responding to the feedback after a period of decreasing audience interest, flopping box office performances, and discontent among fans. The newly released trailer for “Daredevil: Born Again“, set to debut on Disney+ on March 4, has rekindled excitement as it features Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in an intense, action-packed revival, and fans are definitely noticing this change.
The statistics clearly demonstrate the success of the Daredevil: Born Again trailer. Marvel Entertainment’s official YouTube video has garnered a staggering 15 million views, boasting 582,000 likes and a mere 3,800 dislikes. This unprecedented level of audience engagement is a rarity for Marvel TV in recent times. In contrast, their last two Disney+ series, featuring female leads and emphasizing identity politics, did not receive the same response.
To illustrate, consider the show Echo. Although it stars Daredevil himself, its trailer garnered merely 7.6 million views, which is approximately half of Born Again’s view count, with 166,000 likes and 21,000 dislikes – an indication that viewers were not enthused and those who did watch were largely unimpressed.
Additionally, there’s the series titled “Agatha All Along“, which is Marvel’s endeavor to expand the storyline from WandaVision into a new female-focused Disney+ show. However, viewer interest for this program seemed to plummet with each trailer release.
The show had three separate trailers, all performing abysmally:
- Teaser Trailer – 7.7 million views, 182,000 likes, and 57,000 dislikes
- Official Trailer – 6.3 million views, 98,000 likes, and 37,000 dislikes
- Mid-Season Trailer – 1.4 million views, 46,000 likes, and 3,100 dislikes
The final statistics are especially troubling, as a mid-season trailer should fuel viewer enthusiasm and attract those undecided. However, it appears to underscore that viewers were already disengaged.

Instead of it, the upcoming series titled “Daredevil: Born Again” has sparked enthusiasm. The teaser offers intense action sequences, showcasing Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, John Bernthal’s Punisher, and the comeback of beloved characters such as Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, and Bullseye. Conspicuously missing are any indications of the “girlboss” themes that have been prevalent in recent Marvel productions. For the first time in a long while, a significant Marvel series focuses on a central male hero without compromising his role for a politically driven plotline.
Indeed, fans are understandably wary given Marvel’s past strategies of misdirection. For instance, take the film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” which was initially presented as a Doctor Strange sequel but ultimately centered around Wanda Maximoff and America Chavez instead. So, it’s not unreasonable for fans to be cautious about “Born Again,” as there’s a possibility it could follow suit with such bait-and-switch tactics.

It’s evident that one point is undeniable – Marvel enthusiasts seem to be turning away from identity politics and progressive narratives. Instead, they yearn for top-notch, character-focused tales that adhere to the original mythos and uphold what initially made the franchise a hit. The upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again could potentially signal a change in direction, but whether Marvel will follow through is yet to be determined.
