Once you finish Dead Frequency, a notable quest within Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, your next adventure will be titled “In Quest of a Guide.” Compared to the previous mission, this one is shorter but intricate. It can be quite challenging to navigate, particularly during the latter stages.
On this adventure, you’ll be on the move quite a bit, but it won’t feel tedious since you’re on the trail of the thief who took Skif’s Scanner and Artifact. Once you’ve dealt with Shterev and retrieved data from his computer, your next mission is to locate Nimble. Here’s a straightforward guide to help you with that.
As an enthusiast, I’d like to share that this journey has not one, but two kickoff points, both detailed in this piece. Feel free to choose either path, knowing that the end result will remain unchanged, regardless of your starting point.
In Search Of A Guide – Skadovsk
Once you finish the Dead Frequency mission, Faust will reach out to you with details on two places where you can gather information about the guide. These two spots are Shevchenko and Skadovsk.
The choice of ship you decide to board varies, as each one is controlled by distinct groups. One, known as Shevchenko, is managed by a group of lawless bandits, while the other, named Skadovsk, is run by a faction called Stalkers.
When traveling to Sultansk, ensure you board the ship first, and they’ll gladly greet you, but remember to be disarmed. Once aboard, look for Richter and inquire about a guide. Although he might not disclose the location, he will direct you towards Trapper, who knows where Nimble, the guide, can be found.
In Search Of A Guide – Shevchenko
As a gamer, if I decide to visit Shevchenko, I’d step onto the ship without any weapons, then make my way to Richter. After a chat with him, I’d inquire about the guide. Though he might go off on a tangent about irrelevant topics, he will eventually reveal information about Trapper.
Alright, buddy! Grab your controller and navigate to the fresh coordinates marked on your gaming map. Old Trapper’s got his eyes peeled for a pal named Nimble, the guide we need. Once you’re close enough, he’ll reach out over the radio waves. Just follow his signal, then ask him where I can find Nimble – our missing link to victory!
Consider bringing out your shotgun since the mutants are charging straight at us, making for a tight battlefield situation. Ensure you’ve got plenty of ammo and healing supplies on hand too.
Once you run out of things to say, he’ll provide you with coordinates to locate Nimble, but keep in mind it won’t be a walk in the park since a group of mutants will show up soon. Grab your weapon and start taking them down, as there will be many of them. Be cautious, watch your back, and make sure you have enough healing supplies on hand.
You don’t have to assist Trapper since he can manage on his own to find Nimble. But if you lend a hand, you’ll earn plenty of coupons, making it more advantageous for you to do so.
You must not shoot Trapper, as friendly fire is a thing in this game. You can kill him by accident.
How To Defeat The Mutated Deer
Once you’ve handled the mutants assaulting you, direct all your firepower towards the Mutated Deer and eliminate it swiftly. It has an unusually large health reserve, making it a formidable adversary, but with your combat skills, you should be able to take care of yourself. Your priority now is to survive and finish off this beast as quickly as possible.
In combat, be wary of the Mutated Deer since it recharges its stampede move by raising its front legs. It’s best to steer clear of it, as this action can significantly deplete your health.
How To Find Nimble
Once you’ve assisted Trapper, Nimble’s location will show up on your map. Make your way towards the destination. During your journey, you may run into some zombies because that region is affected by psi radiation.
If you have a psi-block pill, you can choose to use it or simply fight off the zombies since they are not too challenging. Here’s a suggestion: Knock them out swiftly, and you’re all set. Now, search for the cave entrance and venture inside. To locate Nimble, turn left first, then right afterwards, and you will notice an exit.
As you reach the exit, make a right turn, and a scene will unfold. Blasting part of the cave to eliminate some mutants, narrowly avoiding death, Skif comes to the realization that he has picked up the Scanner. The situation becomes tense as Skif points his gun at Nimble.
Now, you’ll have two choices: kill Nimble or spare him.
Should You Kill Nimble Or Spare Him?
Choosing Nimble Spare as your choice here is advantageous since he can provide valuable information. He’ll reveal the pathway to the Clear Sky, and more importantly, inform you that disabling the psi-beacons will be crucial if you aim to reach the base successfully.
Choosing to spare Nimble means forgoing a substantial number of coupons, but it seems the wiser choice given that he was the one who initially spared Skif.
After that, the mission will conclude, and you’ll receive some coupons as a reward. But if you choose to end his life, you’ll be able to retrieve both the map and PDA from his lifeless body, which could provide additional insights into what transpired the night Nimble snatched your Scanner.
