Liev Schreiber Almost Didn’t Go to the Critics Choice Awards and Won!

Father doesn’t always know best.

2025 Critics Choice Award nominee, Liev Schreiber, almost missed the entire event as he didn’t anticipate being announced in his competitive category for Netflix’s “The Perfect Couple”, considering the strong contenders within it.

But lo and behold, he won. So, needless to say, he’s glad he picked out a suit and went.

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Schreiber expressed gratitude to his lovely spouse, Taylor, and his son Sasha, for encouraging him to attend. He admitted that he had told them there was no chance on earth they’d see him win this award in such a prestigious company. (View all the winners at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards.)

For the archives, his fellow nominees included Robert Downey Jr. (for “The Sympathizer”), Hugh Grant (“The Regime”), Logan Lerman (“We Were the Lucky Ones”), as well as Ron Cephas Jones (posthumously for “Genius: MLK/X”) and Treat Williams (posthumously for “FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans”).

So yeah, some talent, but Schreiber was no slouch in his own twisted dysfunctional family thriller.

He expressed his deep gratitude, attributing it largely to the exceptional cast, including director Susanne Bier, Nicole Kidman, and Dakota Fanning. A truly remarkable ensemble of actors, he noted. So, a big thanks to everyone involved, and to the critics, a heartfelt thank you.

By coincidence, at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California, his former partner, Naomi Watts from the series FEUD: Capote vs. The Swans, was also nominated as Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie. This ex-partner of his has two sons, Sasha, aged 17, and Kai, who is 16 years old. Interestingly, Sasha even walked the red carpet with his mother on this occasion.

Currently, Watts is hitched to Billy Crudup, whereas Schreiber tied the knot with Taylor Neisen in 2023. They also have a 18-month-old daughter together with Neisen.

Ever since our split back in 2016, following eleven blissful years together, my ex-partner Schreiber and I have maintained a warm and cooperative co-parenting bond. In fact, we teamed up in the 2017 film “Chuck”.

He shared with CNN, upon the film’s premiere, that he believes viewers will find themselves quite delightfully impressed by Naomi in this photo.

Interestingly, being former partners made collaboration simpler for them, as Schreiber pointed out. He shared that any opportunity to work with Naomi is welcome. However, when they were romantically involved, one had to take care of the children while the other worked, making it challenging to film together since neither was at home.
