Sonja Morgan‘s family is mourning the loss of John Adams Morgan.
Earlier this month, the former spouse of a Real Housewives of New York City cast member, who is now 94 years old, passed away. This news was shared on social media by their daughter, Quincy Adams Morgan.
I wanted to share some sad news with you all. My father passed away last month, and I felt it was appropriate to let you know myself. On Instagram Stories, I posted this on February 7th. We, as a family, are working through this difficult time together. I had an incredibly deep love and respect for my dad, and I am truly thankful for the affection and support I have received during these past weeks.
Quincy added that she “took a break from work to navigate this loss.”
The cause and date of John’s passing has not yet been made public.
In my role as a lifestyle expert, I came across the unfortunate news of a former banker’s passing, as reported in an obituary published by The New York Times the previous day.
The Morgan Library & Museum, represented by its trustees, associates, and staff, are deeply saddened by the demise of John Adams Morgan, a dedicated trustee for more than 34 years and a long-standing member of the Finance Committee. As reported on February 6, Mr. Morgan shared a strong family bond with the Morgan that stretches back to his great-grandfather, J. Pierpont Morgan, whose exceptional collection serves as the foundation of this esteemed institution.
The lasting commitment of John to the Morgan’s endeavor of honoring and disseminating the story and methodology of human creativity will long be remembered,” the statement went on. “We offer our heartfelt condolences to Connie Morgan and every member of the Morgan family.
In 1998, Sonja, aged 61, tied the knot with John, a relative of U.S. presidents named John Adams and John Quincy Adams. However, their marriage ended in 2006, four years before she became a cast member on RHONY, joining during season three.
John’s father, Henry Sturgis Morgan, is one of the founders of Morgan Stanley, while his great-grandfather, J.P. Morgan, was the founder of J.P. Morgan & Co.
Apart from his involvement in politics and finances, John was also an accomplished athlete. He participated in the 1952 Olympics and secured a gold medal in the six-meter yacht racing event.
Sonja, as well as John’s fifth wife and widow Connie, have yet to speak out publicly on his death.
