Production on the second live-action season of “One Piece” is now complete, with fans eagerly waiting for a release date. Although the specific launch date remains undisclosed, it’s expected to debut sometime this year. The series is an adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, but it doesn’t follow the comic exactly. Instead, it aims to capture the essence of Oda’s vision. The first season premiered in August 2023 and quickly gained worldwide popularity, with excitement still high a month later as Oda confirmed the production of a second season via a special video posted by Netflix.
The Straw Hat Pirates’ journey will continue, picking up from the Loguetown Arc, as hinted by the Writers Guild of America who have officially announced that One Piece Season 3 is in their pipeline before the second season’s release. This information was disclosed by a reputable One Piece source, @pewpiece on X. Scheduled for 2025-2026, with Joseph E Tracz and Matt Owens as Showrunners and Executive Producers, it is evident that Netflix plans to roll out Season 3 shortly following the second season, and it’s possible they have already begun production on this new season.
What to Expect From One Piece Live-Action Season 2 and 3?
In the first season, we followed the storyline from the manga up until the Arlong Park Arc, as the team navigated towards the Grand Line. The next season promises to continue their voyage, reaching the Loguetown Arc – a humble settlement located in the East Blue Sea, notable for being both the birthplace and execution site of the Pirate King. Known as the town that signifies both beginnings and endings, it will introduce several characters who play significant roles later on. Following their short escapade in Loguetown, the team is expected to head directly into the Grand Line.
In the upcoming second series, we can expect storylines that include the Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Garden Arcs. Whiskey Peak marks the first island the Straw Hats set foot on in the Grand Line. Furthermore, whispers suggest that the third season will delve into the Arabasta Arc, where our heroes travel to a deserted island and engage with one of the Grand Line’s most formidable pirates. The crew is certain to experience numerous adventures as they traverse the perilous ocean, forging new friendships along the way. Additionally, the Straw Hats will gain two new members by the conclusion of the Arabasta Arc.
