Yuji Horii, the mastermind behind Dragon Quest, has eased concerns among fans about the progress of Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, the upcoming mainline installment in the RPG series. Since its initial announcement nearly four years ago, enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting more information following the success of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. But don’t fret; Horii asserts there is nothing to worry about regarding the game’s development.
During a recent live broadcast, the show’s original mind shared some insights regarding the forthcoming primary installment. It appears the team is diligently toiling away on Dragon Quest XII. He hinted that we can expect bits of news about the game to trickle out gradually.
The Dragon Quest series remains popular with spin-offs like Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, but the development of new main series games has slowed down a bit. While Dragon Quest XII was initially announced in 2021, there have been limited updates about this RPG since then. More recently, the series producer, Yu Miyake, has been reassigned to Square Enix’s mobile game division.
