Destiny 2’s Sundered Doctrine Dungeon Will Get Another Weekend With Contest Mode Enabled

Over the weekend, Sony experienced one of its prolonged outages on the PlayStation Network, leaving numerous gamers unable to sign in and engage in online play. Though it’s now operational again, this interruption caused problems for Bungie’s game, Destiny 2, which requires a constant internet connection. The timing was particularly inconvenient as the latest dungeon, Sundered Doctrine, was in the midst of its World First race.

Players who emerge victorious in Contest Mode will be rewarded with a unique Exotic item, a Triumph, and an Emblem. Due to its temporary availability and recent PSN outages, some players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 may have missed their chance. Fortunately, Bungie is addressing the issue by scheduling an extra Contest Mode weekend for the dungeon.

As a gamer, I’m excited to learn more about the details, but let me make one thing clear: this isn’t a rehash of the World First race we’re used to. Instead, it’s an extra chance for those whose fireteams were affected by the outage to take on the Dungeon at Contest Difficulty. Since every platform will have access to the same content, Xbox and PC players who missed their turn can give it another go too.

As a devoted gamer, I’ve been left in the dark about the cause behind the recent PlayStation service outage. However, Sony has stepped up by offering an extra five days of PlayStation Plus subscription to us loyal gamers.
