The classic Nintendo Game Boy game originally released in 1987 will be reborn on Nintendo Switch and PC platforms on March 27, 2025. Although many may recognize this game as a 1990 Game Boy title, it actually had earlier releases on Atari ST in 1987, followed by versions for Amiga, C64, Apple IIGS, DOS, and Amstrad CPC in 1998. After the Game Boy release in 1990, the game will now return to our screens in a new remake developed by Nakama Game Studio, marking nearly four decades since its creation.
Nakama Game Studio plans to launch Bubble Ghost Remake on March 27, 2025, available on both Nintendo Switch and PC platforms through Steam and Epic Games Store. At this time, there’s no news about a Nintendo Switch 2 version or any other console releases, making it an exclusive title for the Nintendo console only.
The long-awaited reboot of an obscure 80s video game was officially given a release date in 2023, but this information has only come to light today. Despite being considered quite old by gaming standards, Bubble Ghost is significant as it marks the first French game to be ported for the Game Boy. Additionally, it represents some of Hitoshi Sakimoto’s earliest works; a renowned Japanese composer, Sakimoto is most famous for his contributions to the Final Fantasy series.
Apart from improved visuals, the updated version offers fresh in-game accomplishments, trinkets to gather, a global rankings system, along with Speedrun and Trial modes. There are also 40 additional levels, joining the existing 35. Naturally, both the gameplay controls and graphics have been brought up-to-date as well.
Upon his return from war to his old northern England castle, ingenious inventor Heinrich Von Schinker discovers everything has been transformed. Now a spirit, he confronts his former faithful creations, now renegades, along with the untamed beasts he left behind before departing. In his quest for truth – and for his beloved Sofia – he depends on a puzzling orb, leading it to liberation in the belief that this might save him too.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited about the upcoming release of this new game remake next month! However, I haven’t got a clue about its price just yet.
