The tale of Rey will carry on in an upcoming Star Wars film, provisionally called “Star Wars: New Jedi Order“. At this point, not much else has been revealed about the movie, except that Daisy Ridley will reprise her role and it’s being helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. After several screenwriters have been linked to the project, George Nolfi from “Ocean’s Twelve” is working on the script. Ridley seems optimistic about the progress of the film.
Recently, ComicBook had a chat with actress Daisy Ridley, who is starring in Martin Campbell’s upcoming film “Cleaner,” set to be released on February 21st. During their conversation, the topic of Star Wars was brought up, and Ridley gave an update on the latest movie installment, expressing her ongoing enthusiasm for what lies ahead.
Ridley shared with us, “Though I haven’t yet gone through the latest draft of the screenplay, I’m well-versed with the plot, George’s story, and let me tell you, he’s an exceptional writer. We’re meticulously crafting this tale to ensure it’s told effectively, and I firmly believe it will be a rewarding experience for all viewers. Needless to say, I’m eagerly anticipating it.
The upcoming series, titled “New Jedi Order,” is set to explore Rey’s adventures post-“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” However, the state of the galaxy during that time remains a mystery. Essentially, this will be unexplored ground for the Star Wars universe.
As a die-hard Star Wars fan, I can confidently say that it’s highly likely we’ll witness a standalone adventure for Rey, who was the main character in the sequel trilogy but often found herself in the reflective glow of Luke and Leia across all three films. With the original cast members having moved on to a galaxy far, far away, Rey now has the unique chance to step into the spotlight, crafting and starring in her own distinct narrative.
It appears that all indications suggest Rey is seeking out others with Force abilities similar to hers, aiming possibly to establish a new iteration of the Jedi. However, as we’ve learned from Luke’s history (and missteps), this isn’t necessarily an easy feat. Rebuilding the Jedi Order has proven tricky in the past, and the same obstacles often arise. Given what Luke experienced, it might offer Rey some guidance on her path.
Cleaner hits theaters on February 21. Tickets are now available on Fandango.
