Serena Williams Defends Taylor Swift Amid Super Bowl Drama

Serena Williams is serving up some support.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, who was one of the numerous celebrities present at the Super Bowl on February 9 between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, stepped in to defend Taylor Swift when she received less than favorable responses from the NFL audience.

Inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans during the game, some well-known faces were displayed on the jumbotron, such as Adam Sandler and Paul Rudd, who received applause from the crowd. Yet, when Swift, cheering for her boyfriend Travis Kelce, made an appearance with her friend and roommate Ice Spice, a loud booing noise filled the stadium, causing Swift to look surprised and laugh. This unexpected reaction came from the “Fortnite” singer.

Even though Swift swiftly got over the audience’s absence of encouragement, she wasn’t alone in her ability to shrug off such setbacks.

Or: Despite bouncing back from the crowd’s indifference, Swift wasn’t the only one with a ‘shake it off’ mindset.

Williams, a big Taylor Swift fan, expressed his affection for her on February 9th, writing on the old platform X (previously known as Twitter), ‘I adore you @taylorswift13! Ignore the naysayers!’

After the tennis champion, who unexpectedly joined Kendrick Lamar during his Super Bowl half-time show, seemingly taking a dig at her rumored ex Drake, expressed her backing towards Taylor Swift, President Donald Trump voiced his opinions about the crowd’s booing incident later on.

In a post on Truth Social, he stated: “Taylor Swift had a harder night than the Kansas City Chiefs did. The Eagles’ win caused her to be booed off the stadium stage. MAGA supporters are not known for their forgiveness!

Five months ago, I expressed my indifference towards the “All Too Well” artist when she backed Vice President Kamala Harris in her 2024 presidential bid. Contrarily, I found myself aligning with Brittany Mahomes, wife to NFL star Patrick Mahomes, whom I publicly endorsed instead.

Trump expressed his preference for Mrs. Mahomes over Taylor Swift during an interview with Fox News in September. He admitted openly that she is a supporter of him, while he wasn’t initially fond of Taylor Swift. However, his feelings towards both women evolved over time.

He went on to say, “However, it’s Brittany who catches my fancy. I find her exceptional. She’s quite passionate about MAGA. To be honest, I prefer her over Taylor Swift. After all, she is the wife of a renowned quarterback, and I believe she’s fantastic.

A few days later, he doubled down on his position, writing on Truth Social, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
