Marvel Rivals Mid-Season Update: Date Revealed and Exciting Changes Ahead!

Ever since its debut in December, Marvel Rivals has resonated strongly with fans, boasting over 20 million downloads so far. The third-person hero shooter officially commenced its first season in January and is now gearing up for a mid-season adjustment. However, this upcoming update has sparked some dissatisfaction among the gaming community.

Initially, NetEase Games, a Chinese studio, intended to reset player ranks as part of a new update. However, due to strong protests from fans, they decided to reconsider this change in the update.

Over the last two days, there has been quite a flurry of activity with things shifting back and forth, but we now have clear information about what lies ahead.

We not only have the release date for Marvel Rivals’ mid-season update, but we also know when the rest of the Fantastic Four team will be added. Fortunately, fans of Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, and Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, won’t have to wait too long before they join the game.

When is Marvel Rivals mid-season ranked update?

On February 21st, 2025, at precisely 8 am, the Marvel Rivals mid-season ranked update will occur, marking the end of the first half of the season as previously planned. Initially, there were plans to reset player rankings, but following feedback from fans, developer NetEase decided against it.

Following the publication of Dev Talk 10 about the seasonal ranking change, we gathered an abundance of comments from our community, as stated in a recent blog post by NetEase.

Many players found the constant rank resets every half-season created an undesirable pressure, making competitive play less fun. Considering feedback from the community, we are going to modify our ranking system to improve its functionality, as detailed in the subsequent part of this announcement.

What to expect from the Marvel Rivals mid-season update

In other words, there won’t be any mid-season resets for player ranks and scores accrued during the first half of the season. To claim new rewards, players must engage in at least ten matches within Competitive mode while also meeting specified criteria before the end of the season. The incentives include a Gold rank costume and an assortment of Crests of Honor featuring exclusive designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and the One Above All tier ranks.

After the mid-season update is rolled out, players currently at Gold rank will earn costume rewards. Moreover, those who have reached Grandmaster level or higher will be given the Crests of Honor, and an additional Crest of Honor will go to the top 500 players (the One Above All).

Most notably, you can expect The Thing and Human Torch to join the Marvel Rivals update on February 21st. These characters join Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, who were introduced on January 10th, thereby finalizing the complete lineup of The Fantastic Four.

Without a shadow of a doubt, this aligns perfectly with the impending Marvel Studios film – “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” – featuring actors Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby.

Marvel Rivals is available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
