Pete Davidson is embracing a clean slate.
Amongst his current efforts to remove almost 200 tattoos, this former Saturday Night Live cast member is now known as “The Official Partner of Reformation” in their latest advertising campaign.
During the course of the campaign, the 31-year-old showcased his newly tattoo-free torso in a bare-chested photo. However, achieving this clean look wasn’t effortless or pain-free; quite the contrary. In fact, he has recently disclosed some graphic details about the extensive and painful procedure he underwent to remove the tattoos.
Pete explained to Jimmy Fallon during a recent episode of The Tonight Show that a treatment requires removing a layer of skin which needs about six to eight weeks to heal, and avoiding sunlight throughout this period. He added that this procedure needs to be repeated approximately 12 more times.
The comedian subsequently explained that the tattoo removal procedure was more difficult than initially getting the tattoos. To be honest, he wouldn’t want anyone, not even his most bitter adversary, to experience this ordeal.
He advised, “Give some serious thought to the idea of getting a tattoo inspired by ‘Game of Thrones’,” as he addressed the crowd. “Give it some real consideration.
Reflecting on the origin of my tattoos, it appears I simply hopped onto a bandwagon that was passing by at the time. As I look back, it seems like everyone was getting inked, around half a decade ago, making it feel like a peculiar trend.
Eager for the long-awaited cleaning up phase, Pete mentioned his aim was just to start afresh with a blank canvas.
He mentioned to Seth Myers during a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers that by the time he’s 40, everything would be vanished, specifically referring to his physique in the upper body area.
Moreover, since each tattoo needs at least seven sessions to be removed, Pete mentioned that this procedure has been a long and tedious one.
He clarified, “Things are simpler when they’re just black and white. However, if it’s a colored tattoo, it can take an incredibly long time.
As for which of his tattoos he regrets the most? The answer was “all of them.”
Before my rehabilitation, I made many decisions that now seem foolish to me, as evidenced by my silly tattoos,” Pete reminisced. “I ended up with a variety of cartoon characters depicted as if they were smoking blunts, including a Muppet and the Tootsie Pop owl.
However, despite the controversial symbolism of his tattoos, Pete had earlier acknowledged that they sometimes created obstacles when he was trying to advance in his acting career.
In 2021, he shared with Seth that he never imagined having a chance to act, but he’s really enjoying it. He mentioned that for most of his roles on-screen, he had to spend up to three hours covering his tattoos with makeup because movie characters don’t typically have them.
While Pete works on removing all of his, keep reading for other stars’ unique tattoos.
