God of War Remastered PS5 Collection Rumored for 20th Anniversary Celebration

It’s been speculated that Sony Interactive Entertainment might soon unveil a collection of God of War games from the past for PS5. The chatter about a potential new God of War remastered compilation started back in October, with rumors suggesting this could be a celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary. With a new PlayStation State of Play event scheduled for the next day, it seems that the possibility of this God of War collection is gaining traction.

Based on a trusted Redditor’s Feeling-Examination6 post, there’s an exciting possibility that Sony might be unveiling the refreshed God of War series during tomorrow’s State of Play event. This user, known for their accurate leaks recently, hints at the God of War collection being unveiled “sooner than we anticipated.” If this turns out to be true, it seems we might get our hands on this bundle as early as 2025!

Should the God of War collection be authentic, it appears to include a total of six games. These games are God of War, God of War 2, God of War 3, God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, and God of War: Ascension. To date, only God of War 3 has been upgraded for hardware beyond PS3. This implies that Sony could potentially enhance the graphics and performance on PS5 for these games.

Although the alleged God of War collection may prove untrue, there’s still reason to believe that new content related to the franchise is in development. In fact, recent whispers from reporter Tom Henderson suggest that Sony is working on a brand-new God of War game, with a setting in Greece and focusing on a younger Kratos. Yet, Henderson has expressed caution about this information, which implies it could be speculative at best. As always, treat such rumors with skepticism.

No matter what follows after God of War, it’s almost guaranteed that the series won’t remain inactive for much longer. Being one of PlayStation’s most significant first-party titles, the publisher is likely keen on discovering more opportunities to cash in on the success of God of War. Given that we’re well past the release date of God of War Ragnarok (more than two years), it wouldn’t surprise me if a new development related to the series surfaced soon.
