Hidden Network Controlling Indie Gaming? Shocking Claims Rock Sweet Baby Inc. and Landfall Games

A study by Gothic Therapy on YouTube, led by MasteroftheTDS and WritingRaven, proposes that the independent gaming industry could be affected by a hidden web of corporations. Their findings point towards Landfall Games, creators of games like ‘Totally Accurate Battle Simulator’ and ‘Content Warning’, potentially being associated with Wings Interactive, a company touted as a backer of indie developers from underrepresented groups. Additionally, the report hints at Sweet Baby Inc., a contentious consultancy firm, being part of this suspected network.

The Allegations Against Wings Interactive

According to Gothic Therapy’s assertion, Wings Interactive might not be an independent funding organization as claimed, but rather a disguise for Landfall Games. While Wings appears to back underrepresented developers, MasteroftheTDS and WritingRaven suggest that it is actually governed and financed by Landfall.

The records indicate that Wings officially conducts business as Vingar Interaktiva AB in Sweden, sharing the same registration address with Landfall Games.

In the video, the person known as Master of TDS points out that it’s more than mere chance – it’s concealment. They also hint that several businesses, all associated with Landfall Games, appear to be registered at the same address. This could indicate a complex business setup that is not transparent to the public eye.

Based on the research, it’s been discovered that Wings Interactive and Landfall Games have common directors on their boards. Among these shared directors is Petter Henriksson, a co-founder of Landfall who also holds the position of Vice CEO at Wings.

It’s worth mentioning that Henriksson doesn’t appear to have his position at Wings mentioned on his LinkedIn profile. Additionally, there’s another individual named Kristen-Lee, who sits on the selection committee for Wings and also seems to be connected with Landfall Games.

Following their research findings, I’ve come to understand that Wings Interactive may operate as a hidden publisher for Landfall. This means that Landfall could be funding and controlling indie game development without directly associating its name with these projects. It seems that big companies have resorted to such strategies in the past, establishing seemingly independent brands to dodge criticism while maintaining control from behind the scenes.

The Sweet Baby Inc. Connection

One fascinating aspect of the report lies in the suggested link between Wings Interactive and Sweet Baby Inc., a well-known consultancy specializing in storyline development for prominent video game companies.

Previously, Kim Belair – the CEO and co-founder of Sweet Baby Inc. – sat on the panel selecting members for Wings Interactive.

A clip shown in the video features Belair confirming this herself:

In the video, she mentioned that she’s served on several advisory boards for grant-providing organizations, among them being the Wings Fund, a unique organization that focuses on providing grants specifically for women and underrepresented individuals working within the gaming sector. They receive projects to fund through this channel.

Gothic Therapy proposes that this link prompts us to consider if SBI’s influence on video games goes beyond merely providing narrative advice, potentially stretching as far as financing and choosing independent game projects.

Industry Funding & Riot Games’ Involvement

At the close of their video, Gothic Therapy shares an intriguing revelation: As per MasteroftheTDS, Riot Games donated $1 million to Wings Interactive in 2021, with the intention of backing “diverse teams.” MasteroftheTDS and WritingRaven hint that this might suggest a more extensive industry influence on Wings’ operations, though they refrain from making firm assertions about Riot’s specific role.

Although our research relies on official records and documents, Gothic Therapy admits that further exploration is essential to uncover the complete scope of these links. As they conclude in their report: “It’s not merely a handful of companies collaborating by chance. This appears to be a covert network exerting influence over indie gaming from behind the scenes.

At the moment, these assertions are still considered accusations, as neither Landfall Games, Wings Interactive, nor Sweet Baby Inc. have made any public comments regarding the conclusions drawn by Gothic Therapy.

Gothic Therapy has promised to continue their investigation, so this story is far from over.
