Christy Carlson Romano Reveals Bullet Fragment Stuck in Her Skull

Christy Carlson Romano is giving an update on her health.

A few days after the former star of “Even Stevens” disclosed that she had been recuperating following a shooting incident where she was hit in the face during a journey, she subsequently shared that a fragment of the bullet lodged behind her eye would need to stay embedded in her skull.

Although the bullet seemed to dance around, almost skirting the crucial areas of her eye, similar to a marble rolling along the edge of a bowl, Christy’s medical team believes it’s not advisable to extract it at this time.

She stated on Instagram on Feb. 11 that the piece of lead needs to stay put, because taking it out could cause blindness. Fortunately, she’s expected to make a complete recovery without complications. However, due to the shard in her forehead being embedded in her skull, doctors have chosen to let it be as it aids in the healing process and may prevent me from having MRI scans in the future.

The medical professional, in the accompanying video to the health report, clarified that the stray bullet, which narrowly missed vital structures by a mere millimeter, passed beneath her eye and moved on to settle deeper within the bone behind the affected organ.

Christy (mother of Isabella Victoria, aged 8, and Sophia Elizabeth, aged 5, alongside her husband Brendan Rooney) has also pondered over her physical well-being following an incident where she was hit in the face while shooting clay pigeons during a trip with a television producer.

40-year-old said, “I’m feeling quite achy and drained, yet I’m taking it easy and recovering nicely.” In conclusion, he expressed his gratitude for everyone’s encouragement, including that from his spouse, kids, and entire family.

As for how this freak accident happened?

On Instagram, Christy posted on February 8th: “Yesterday marked my husband’s birthday, so I treated him to clay pigeon shooting as a gift. However, there was an incident where another group carelessly discharged their firearms in the wrong direction and unfortunately, I got injured in the face.

Fortunately, Brendan “sprung into action” and rushed her to the hospital.

She went on to explain, “I was struck in five spots, with one nearly touching my right eye. Regrettably, a piece of debris became stuck behind my eye, making it hazardous to attempt surgery to remove it at the moment.

After the harrowing incident, the former Kim Possible star couldn’t help but convey her heartfelt thanks for still being alive.

She pondered, “I adore my daughters, spouse, family, and friends deeply. A moment flashed through my memories like a blur, and let me tell you, seize any opportunity to embrace those close to you. Life has the power to shift unexpectedly.

Meanwhile, her husband of 12 years shared his support in her comments.

Brendan wrote, ‘You are incredibly brave, tough, strong-willed, and amazing – the likes of whom I’ve never met. I am so grateful that you’re still here. You’re not just my partner, but also the mother of our children. I honestly don’t know how I’d manage without you. I love you more than anything in this world.'”

This version maintains the original sentiment while making it sound less formal and easier to read.

In February 2025, an actress who once starred in “Even Stevens” revealed that she had been accidentally shot in the face during a trip where they were shooting clay pigeons to celebrate her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday.

In a group we were with, someone else carelessly discharged their weapon mistakenly and struck me in the face. @thebrendanrooney swiftly intervened, evaluated my injuries, and hastily transported me to the hospital. I was wounded in five spots, one of which was barely an inch away from hitting me right in the eye.

A former star of Kim Possible explained, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck near my eye, and it’s currently not safe for surgery to remove it. My doctors are keeping a close watch on me right now, and I can still see clearly.

In my own words, I’d express it as:

“Experiencing a moment that made me realize how precious life is, I find myself deeply grateful for each breath I take. The love I have for my daughters, husband, family, and friends is immeasurable. A fleeting glimpse of my past life passed before my eyes, leaving an indelible reminder that life can change in the blink of an eye. So, seize every opportunity to embrace those around you with a warm hug. Cherish these connections, for they are the threads that make life’s tapestry truly beautiful.

Despite the occasional unkindness on the internet, Amy Schumer is grateful for its role in helping her uncover answers during a challenging time. In an episode of Call Her Daddy from January 2025, she humorously recounted the situation where her face drew attention and concern from viewers. Doctors chimed in with comments suggesting that something might be wrong due to her swollen appearance. “Wait, I’m getting trolled by doctors?” Amy joked about this unexpected situation.

When these doctors speculated that she may have Cushing syndrome, caused by elevated cortisol levels or steroid injections, the creator of Life & Beth paused. She had been receiving steroid injections to treat scars from previous surgeries like breast reduction and C-section. Realizing this connection, Amy said, “It turns out that these steroid injections gave me Cushing syndrome, a condition I wouldn’t have known about if the internet hadn’t piled on so heavily.”

Now, Amy is relieved to know she’s okay. As she shared in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Discovering that I have a type of Cushing syndrome that will eventually correct itself and leave me healthy was the best possible news I could have received.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying ordeal during breakfast with her husband Justin Bieber. She started exhibiting symptoms similar to a stroke, which left her unable to speak and caused the right side of her face to droop. After regaining her speech, she went to the hospital for a check-up. The medical team discovered a small blood clot in her brain, classified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further examination at the University of California, Los Angeles, revealed that Hailey had a hole in her heart called patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel into her heart, escape through the hole, and reach her brain, resulting in the TIA. Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and is now feeling well.

In the same year as Hailey’s health crisis, Justin also faced his own health challenge. Specifically, in June 2022, Justin Bieber announced his diagnosis with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that led to temporary paralysis of parts of his face and necessitated the cancellation of the rest of his Justice World Tour.

As he shared in an Instagram video, this virus affected the nerve in his ear and his facial nerves, causing him to lose movement on one side of his face. “As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move. So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face,” he explained. He further mentioned that eating had become increasingly difficult for him. However, the paralysis eventually subsided.

Hailey commented on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America, stating, “He’s doing really well.” She added, “He’s feeling a lot better. Obviously, it was just a very scary and random situation to happen, but he’s going to be totally okay, and I’m just grateful that he’s fine.

Jamie Foxx initially chose to keep the details of his hospitalization in April 2023 confidential, but later chose to share his experiences. In Atlanta, during that time, he complained of a severe headache and asked for an aspirin. Before he could receive it, he fainted and lost consciousness for around twenty days.

Initially treated by a doctor who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, Foxx’s sister, Deidra Dixon, later took him to another hospital where they discovered that he had suffered a brain bleed leading to a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 20th day, Foxx woke up in a wheelchair on May 4 and was unable to walk. He then proceeded to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

“I can only express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “as I truly felt each one.

In 2019, actress Emilia Clarke, who starred in Game of Thrones, published an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” with The New Yorker. In the piece, she recounted a harrowing experience at the gym where she was struck by a severe headache that led to vomiting and escalating pain. She suspected her brain was damaged and was rushed to the hospital for a scan. The diagnosis was a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening type of stroke caused by bleeding in the space surrounding the brain, due to an arterial rupture. Emilia underwent immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm but described the pain as unbearable. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia and spoke nonsensically. A week later, the aphasia passed, and she was discharged from the hospital a month after admission. In 2013, a growth detected in her brain during a scan had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery. She wrote that upon waking up from the procedure, she was screaming in pain as it had failed, and the doctors warned her survival chances were precarious if they didn’t operate again. Fortunately, Emilia reported that she is now fully recovered.

Cori Broadus, the daughter of music icon Snoop Dogg, expresses gratitude towards her family after a severe stroke in January 2024 left her needing their support.

Upon suffering the stroke, she reached out to her loved ones, sending them a picture and informing them via text.

The incident led to extended hospitalization due to additional health issues, as Cori’s lupus was not responding well and her kidneys were failing.

In December 2024, she spoke to TopMob News‘ correspondent Will Marfuggi, sharing that “everybody just came to my rescue” during this challenging time.

Now, Cori is recovering well and is doing much better. She mentioned having to regain some motor skills but overall, she’s in good health.

Today, she assures us that she’s “doing great.

During her twenties, the actress Shailene Woodley‘s health took a turn for the worse. She experienced issues such as losing her hearing, extreme fatigue, stomach pain, and fear of food due to body dysmorphia and self-identity confusion. Despite consulting multiple doctors over a ten-year period, she chose not to reveal the exact condition. Instead, she combined traditional medical treatments with holistic healing practices, seeking comfort and understanding in her own body. Today, Shailene is grateful to report that she is now healthy and feeling much better after this challenging journey.
