After the debut of “Breaking Bad” in 2008, actors Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston experienced a significant rise in their fame. They quickly became the ‘it’ pair, with many studios eager to capitalize on their stardom. This influence persists even today, as Robert Kirkman is keen for both Cranston and Paul to be involved in the “Invincible” universe. However, it seems that this may never come true, as one of the “Breaking Bad” actors consistently declines these opportunities. Recently, Cranston has again rejected the chance to contribute his voice to “Invincible.
The hit superhero show, “Invincible“, is currently enjoying widespread popularity, joining ranks with Amazon Prime Video’s other top-tier series like “The Boys“. This newfound fame allows it to attract an impressive ensemble of A-list talent. Leading the cast is Steven Yeun as the main character, with notable actors such as J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Lauren Cohan, Zachary Quinto, Walton Goggins, Seth Rogan, and numerous others also featured. Remarkably, even a star from the critically acclaimed show “Breaking Bad” has made it an annual tradition to turn down offers for “Invincible“.
Bryan Cranston May Never Star in Invincible
In an interview with DiscussingFilm, the creator of Invincible, Robert Kirkman, expressed his strong desire to have Bryan Cranston, best known for playing Walter White, join the show. He mentioned that when considering actors for roles, “Oh my gosh, never in a million years would have I thought of that” is often his response. In this case, that actor is none other than Bryan Cranston. Kirkman further stated that he believes they extend a role to Cranston every season as their ultimate casting dream.
It’s regrettable that the collaboration between Kirkman and fans of both “Invincible” and “Breaking Bad” may never materialize due to his consistent refusals. However, like Invincible who keeps getting back up after taking a beating, Robert Kirkman isn’t giving in. He’s hinting at another attempt, hoping for a different outcome next time. Bryan Cranston is the sole actor who has rejected him so far.

One Breaking Bad Star Will Soon Make Their Invincible Debut
It’s possible that seeing Bryan Cranston on Invincible remains a wishful thinking, but luckily for fans, Robert Kirkman’s dream of working with Aaron Paul has come true. In fact, Aaron Paul, known for his role alongside Cranston in Breaking Bad, will make his debut on Invincible in Season 3. Joining him is an impressive roster of A-list actors, including Simu Liu from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Xolo Maridueña from the DC Extended Universe, and Jonathan Banks, another familiar face from Breaking Bad. In this new season, Paul will be portraying Powerplex, a fresh villain who is set to appear in the upcoming episodes.
Powerplex showcases a distinct talent for harnessing the energy of adversaries who strike at him, enabling him to exploit others’ powers back on them. To keep things intriguing, it’s worth mentioning that Powerplex harbors a tragic past (as many superheroes do) and has a strong desire for retribution against Mark Grayson.
This coming Thursday, February 13th, you’ll find the new episode from Invincible‘s third season available for streaming. The series has already garnered significant acclaim, soaring to the top of Amazon Prime Video’s weekly Top 10 list, and maintaining a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
