Do you recall when Sega announced that they were bringing back the classic action platformer series, Shinobi, along with other popular franchises? Well, they’ve officially unveiled a fresh title for it, developed by Lizardcube, who are known for their work on Street of Rage 4. You can watch the first trailer for it below.
The game titled “Shinobi: Art of Vengeance” showcases an impressive visual design, set to release on August 29th across platforms such as PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, it has been confirmed by Toru Ohara, chief producer from Sega Japan, that the game takes inspiration from “The Revenge of Shinobi” and “Shinobi 3”.
This game faithfully recreates key elements, such as powers, challenges, and adversaries found in previous versions. Certain aspects are directly borrowed, like the Bamboo Forest level. The gameplay is swift, offering weapons like katanas and kunais for combat, and allowing for a variety of attacks based on user input. Yes, it’s a traditional linear title with levels to progress through.
In a nutshell, “Shinobi: Art of Vengeance” is currently up for grabs at a price point of $29.99, and advance orders are being accepted (with the exception of Switch pre-orders, which will commence later). Keep an eye out for further updates in the upcoming months!
