MCU Variants of Daredevil and Iron Man Shake Up Spider-Man Universe!

In the animated series “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” Marvel Studios has unveiled fresh versions of Daredevil and Iron Man. This show is set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet in a different reality compared to the main storyline, with several noticeable distinctions. The character of Matt Murdock, better known as Daredevil, was portrayed by Charlie Cox. However, the Iron Man in this version is voiced by Mick Wingert and has an unusual dynamic with Peter Parker unlike their counterparts on Earth-616. Here’s a glimpse at these cameos and potential implications for the multiverse, but beware: there are spoilers ahead!

In this alternate version of events reminiscent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man navigates a world where superheroes are already prevalent in New York City at the time Peter Parker acquires his powers. Unlike the main storyline, this Peter doesn’t catch the eye of Tony Stark, but rather Norman Osborn who takes on a mentorship role. We were informed of these differences prior to viewing, so it was intriguing to find Tony Stark appear in this week’s episode titled “Tangled Web.

Similar to Earth-616, this universe features an Avengers team that was compelled to agree on the Sokovia Accords by Thaddeus Ross. However, instead of facing persistent threats from a common adversary, they’re currently grappling with Otto Octavius who has been evading capture for multiple installments. In Episode 6, titled “Duel with the Devil,” we are introduced to Ross at a charity event alongside Norman Osborn. Meanwhile, Daredevil is apprehended by Spider-Man as he attempts to infiltrate Oscorp.

In a bid to make Spider-Man suspect that Norman Osborn is concealing something dark, Daredevil puts forth his theory. A brief skirmish ensues between the two which concludes with Peter lying unconscious. Subsequently, Norman asserts that Daredevil was collaborating with Octavius to pilfer more Oscorp technology for criminal use. However, it seems that Matt Murdock’s story isn’t over yet.

This time around, Ross made an appearance as Norman had managed to inform him about Otto’s hideout. Leveraging his ties within the Avengers, it was Iron Man who swiftly showed up to aid in apprehending Doc Oc. Given that we might only see Tony Stark once more, the future remains uncertain with two episodes still left to unfold.

In a unique twist, Spider-Man: Beyond Your Typical Neighborhood has managed to carve its own path distinctly from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe narrative, yet preserves familiar elements beloved by fans. This serves as a reassuring message that Peter Parker need not dwell in the limelight cast by Tony Stark, and it appears the writers aim to uphold this direction moving forward. As for Daredevil, he seems an ideal companion for Peter as they both navigate their street-level journeys.

Watch “Spiderman: Your Local Hero” on Disney+ right now! The last two episodes will be available starting on Wednesday, February 19th.
