Capcom’s highly anticipated Monster Hunter Rise is almost upon us, yet they continue to unveil details about the game. Via their Twitter account, Capcom has revealed that along with Quality and Performance modes, Monster Hunter Rise will offer a Balanced mode on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. This mode operates at 40 frames per second (FPS) and is tailored for players who own TVs with a refresh rate of 120hz.
Previously, Capcom hinted that a “Balanced” setting would only be accessible on the PlayStation 5 Pro, not on the Xbox Series X or standard PlayStation 5. In terms of quality settings, the game aims for 30 frames per second (FPS) while offering higher resolution and enhanced visual effects. On the other hand, the “Performance” setting prioritizes a smooth 60 FPS gameplay experience by sacrificing some visual detail.
As an observer, it appears that Monster Hunter Wilds is a resource-heavy game, requiring substantial system resources. To ensure players have a smooth gaming experience when the full game launches, Capcom has unveiled a benchmark tool for PC users. This tool allows players to test various setting combinations ahead of time. Furthermore, Capcom assures that the launch version of the game will perform better on all platforms compared to the beta version.
40 FPS modes remain rare, but provide cool options
Most console games typically come with two settings: one for superior graphics or a higher frame rate. However, finding a balance between the two options is less common. This might be because not everyone has a 4K TV capable of a 120hz refresh rate. But for those who do, a 40 FPS mode can strike a good middle ground.
Among the games on Xbox Series X|S that allow for a selectable frame rate of up to 40 FPS are Bethesda Game Studios’ titles, such as Fallout 4 and Starfield. These games offer players the flexibility to adjust settings according to their preferences and system capabilities.
