Confirmed for August 28th, 2025, Konami has unveiled that the Ape Escape mode will come packaged with PS5 and PC versions of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. This mode is exclusive to these platforms and is a return from the original PS2 version. However, due to its connection with Sony, the Xbox Series X|S edition is offering something different instead – Bomberman mode, as hinted in the State of Play trailer spotted by Wario64.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but notice the intriguing phrase “Snake vs ?” emblazoned on Bomberman’s shadowy outline, hinting at a fresh, unprecedented game mode. If my guess is correct, this could mean that the Ape Escape characters will be swapped for Bombermen, but I’ll reserve judgment until Konami reveals more details. Interestingly, the PC version of the trailer seems to suggest the Snake vs Monkey mode, leading me to believe that both PS5 and PC versions might offer this exciting content.
In Snake vs Monkey’s initial gameplay, your goal is to temporarily knock out or sedate the faces of Ape Escape characters, then catch them as they appear across various levels. Konami has hinted that they will reveal more specifics about this mode on the PS5 at a later date. It’ll be intriguing to discover if there are any significant differences between the PS5/PC and Xbox versions beyond swapping character models.
