Update [Thu 13th Feb 2025, 11:15am]:
Once more, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has received a rating in Brazil, following its earlier rating in South Korea. While this doesn’t guarantee anything, it certainly hints that the game might be approaching its release date.

View Urgent ForecastDespite missing any mention during the recent State of Play event, there’s a scheduled panel set for SXSW next month that could provide us with a wealth of details about the upcoming game.
If a live stream event called “State of Play” is indeed scheduled for next week, it seems more probable that Death Stranding 2 will be the main attraction. Recently, a rating for the PS5 version of Death Stranding 2 has been published by the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC). Although an age rating doesn’t always mean a release date is imminent (as Hollow Knight: Silksong received one in April 2024 but hasn’t been released yet), it does imply that the game is at a stage where it can be assessed by external evaluators, hinting that it may be closer to launch.
The South Korean classification for the PS5 sequel labels it as a game that revolves around delivering packages in a post-apocalyptic setting while reconnecting cities to save mankind. This sounds reminiscent of the original game, indeed. However, the rating indicates that the game contains intense violence, inappropriate language, drug usage, smoking and drinking scenes, making it unsuitable for minors.
The fact that Hideo Kojima tweeted yesterday about editing a trailer for the first time in a year has added fuel to the speculation that Death Stranding 2 might be part of an upcoming State of Play presentation. While it’s possible that this could be related to his new project with Xbox, OD, it seems more likely that it’s for On the Beach, as Death Stranding 2 is the game that is closest to release and is expected to come out later this year.
Originally, he responded to the tweet with a picture of his editing room, using his distinctive tagline: “A Hideo Kojima Production.” Here it is for you to view:
In response to the previous tweet, he posted a snapshot of his workstation, complete with the familiar phrase: “A Hideo Kojima Game.” Take a peek at it here:
