Due to House of the Dragon’s third season not being scheduled for release until 2026, admirers of the Game of Thrones realm find themselves in a state of uncertainty at present.
In addition to anticipating “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” it has been unveiled that another spin-off story is being developed, with a focus on the Targaryen dynasty this time around.
To Deadline, HBO’s Head of Drama Series and Films, Francesca Orsi, revealed that they have more spin-offs in development at the moment. One of these projects, she hinted, looks quite promising and remains focused on the Targaryen dynasty.
Regarding “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”, she mentioned: “There are several other potential spin-offs, but we can’t definitively say which will proceed. However, I should note that the others have high production budgets. As for this one, it feels the most personal.
It appears that despite A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms being labeled as “intimate,” this warm and personal tone may not persist across the proposed spin-offs.
Absolutely, fans of Game of Thrones are accustomed to large budgets, stunning visual effects, and grandiose sets that draw viewers into the story. Therefore, it appears there’s much to anticipate in terms of those aspects.

So far, the Targaryen dynasty has often found itself in the spotlight. However, specifics about a possible series revolving around them remain undisclosed at this time.
Absolutely, just like the initial Game of Thrones series and the newer House of the Dragon, both narratives have focused on different characters from a particular family. The second season of House of the Dragon concluded with the impending great fight between the Targaryens and Hightowers, setting the stage for an epic conflict.
As of now, we don’t have a set release date for Season 3 of House of the Dragon, but more recently, some exciting news came from the cast: Matt Smith and Fabien Frankel revealed they’ve gotten the scripts for Episodes 4, 5, and 6 of the upcoming season.
Regarding A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, George R.R. Martin has given an update to fans about the show’s development. He confirmed that it is now completed and is expected to air in the latter part of 2025.
Earlier, Martin made it clear that he watched all six installments of the fresh series, expressing his delight by saying he “really enjoyed them”.
Regarding what awaits viewers in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Orsi hinted: “You’re going to be amazed by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as they bring to life the dynamic duo, Dunk and Egg, the main characters. The bond between these brothers, coupled with the fatherly affection Dunk shows towards this young man, is truly captivating.
We’ve advanced our plans to construct this project across all three seasons. Officially, we haven’t started yet, but things are shaping up positively. We’re treating this as one integrated piece, considering seasons 2 and 3 together, given that there are three interconnected novellas.
