During Sony’s PlayStation State of Play event in February 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds unveiled a fresh launch trailer. This trailer provides an impressive montage of the diverse monsters that players can hunt within Monster Hunter Wilds, along with a sneak peek at its future plans for post-launch updates. The first of these updates will introduce Mizutsune in the game’s first Title Update, which is scheduled for Spring 2025.
In simpler terms, Mizutsune is a type of sea serpent-like creature introduced in Monster Hunter Generations and most recently seen in Monster Hunter Rise. This menacing monster enters battles by slithering and attacks its victims with sharp talons, water cannon-like assaults, and the ability to inflict a condition called Bubbleblight that makes enemies lose their footing.
In addition to Mizutstune, there are other exciting aspects to anticipate in the first Title Update. This update also includes Event Quests and further enhancements. The roadmap further indicates that a second Title Update for Monster Hunter Rise is scheduled for summer 2025, bringing additional Event Quests as well.
Apart from post-release updates, Monster Hunter Rise has revealed a new Leviathan-like creature called Jin Dahaad. This towering, metallic beast dominates the Iceshard Cliffs region as its top predator and calls for a whole team of hunters to defeat it.
In the launch trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, players get their first detailed view of the series mascot monster, Rathalos. Unlike previous appearances, Rathalos in this game appears to be behaving strangely and exuding an unusual purple energy from its body.
Is it possible that these monsters are unique variants we may encounter during the endgame content of Monster Hunter Wilds? To discover this for sure, we’ll need to complete the entire game once it launches on February 28, 2025.
Monster Hunter’s next big hunting adventure is nearly here

In just two weeks, we’re on the brink of unleashing Monster Hunter Wilds, an eagerly anticipated Xbox title or PC game for dedicated Monster Hunter enthusiasts like myself. The anticipation has grown almost unmanageable as we approach its release. There’s so much to get excited about – a vast array of beasts to track down, a wealth of weaponry to wield, crossplay multiplayer capabilities, and more tantalizing features that promise an immersive and thrilling adventure.
Furthermore, Capcom has unveiled that the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 editions of Monster Hunter Rise will offer a 40 FPS Balanced mode. This allows for excellent graphical detail while maintaining a consistent 40 frames per second (assuming a 120hz display is available).
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to debut on February 28, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam. If you can’t stand the wait, you can experience the extended second Open Beta Test of Monster Hunter Wilds this coming weekend, specifically on the given date:
- From February 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM to February 17, 2025, at 6:59 PM (PT)
1. Keep in mind that the beta version won’t feature the resolution/framerate enhancements and weapon equilibrium adjustments that will be incorporated into the final game.
2. Remember to experiment with the Monster Hunter Rise PC Benchmark tool to determine if your computer is capable of running the game on PC, as Monster Hunter Rise has recently lowered its system requirements.
The upcoming video game, titled “Monster Hunter Wilds,” which is the advanced version of one of Capcom’s top-tier games across both Xbox and PC platforms, namely Monster Hunter World, is set to debut on February 28, 2025. This game will be playable on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
