Supporters of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” received some exciting news this morning, as it was officially announced that the prequel series has been renewed for a third season on Prime Video. Although there had been speculation about a possible Season 3, the official confirmation came today. In addition to the announcement of the third season, it was also revealed that pre-production for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is currently underway and filming will commence in spring at Shepperton Studios in the UK.
Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, and Stefan Schwartz have been appointed to helm several episodes for Season 3 of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” Notably, Brändström will assume a dual role as executive producer, having previously served as co-executive producer and episode director during Seasons 1 and 2. Hamri has also directed multiple episodes in Season 2, while Schwartz boasts credits from Prime Video’s “The Boys,” AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” BBC’s “Luther,” and FX’s “The Americans.”
Vernon Sanders, from Amazon MGM Studios, shared his excitement about ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ as it continues to captivate audiences globally. With production for a third season already in motion, he expressed eagerness to continue this adventure. He spoke highly of the creative team’s vision for the future, promising more enchanting and intriguing stories that will further explore the legendary lore shaping Middle-earth.
In the epic series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” we delve into the legendary Second Age of Middle-earth, a time period that precedes the events depicted in J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” by thousands of years. In the second season, the enigmatic figure Sauron (portrayed by Charlie Vickers) reappears on the scene, embarking on a mission to forge the Rings of Power. The season culminates with all these rings being successfully crafted.
