Selena Gomez isn’t keeping her fears to herself.
On February 13, the artist unveiled a fresh track called “Frightened by Love” as part of her forthcoming joint album with partner Benny Blanco. The song’s words provide a glimpse into her concerns about romance.
In that slow melody, she crooned, ‘I’m not timid about my affection for you, but rather fearful of losing you.’ She wondered aloud, ‘Who could possibly love you as deeply as I do?
32-year-old woman, who announced her engagement with 36-year-old Benny in December, also hinted at her past romantic relationships, which involve dating stars like Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas, and The Weeknd.
“When I was young I would love too fast,” the lyrics read. “Hope I don’t repeat my past.”
Just hours before its launch, Selena and Benny hinted at their upcoming collaboration in an Instagram post, sharing a handwritten note that read “I said I love you first”. This phrase would later become the title of their joint album, slated for release on March 21st. The album promises to narrate their love story and delve into their future together, as suggested by the press release.
Although “Scared of Loving You” contains sensitive lyrics, Selena has consistently praised her boyfriend, who she started dating in 2023. Notably, she’s openly disclosed the reasons behind her comfort in revealing aspects of her relationship on social media for fans to see.
She shared with The Hollywood Reporter in November that she had never before felt this safe, and she envisioned a future with this individual.
