Rumour: One of Sony’s Last PS5 Live Service Games Fairgames Out in 2026

After numerous cancellations, it seems that the number of PS5 live-service games Sony is currently developing can be counted on one hand. Two of these games are “Fairgame$” from Haven Studio and a game by Bungie called “Marathon.” However, it’s been hinted that “Fairgame$,” a co-op heist shooter, may require more development time, with a potential release date set for 2026, as reported by Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb.

On his gaming podcast, Game Mess Decides, Grubb indicated that Fairgame$ will not launch in 2022, as he believes it has been moved to 2026. Since its initial unveiling in 2023, the game hasn’t had an official release date, so this seems to be an internal delay at Haven Studio and may not be officially confirmed yet. If Fairgame$ is released next year, Sony could potentially have a first-party lineup featuring it, Saros (recently announced), and Marvel’s Wolverine.

The game titled “Fairgames$” is being developed by Haven Studio, a collective group led by Jade Raymond, who was also part of the original Assassin’s Creed team. This will be their first joint project. The game was initially unveiled during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, where it shared the spotlight with Concord and Marathon. Interestingly, since that presentation, Concord was the main focus of a State of Play event, was released, and then removed permanently from service. Since then, there’s been no official update or trailer for Fairgames$.

According to Jeff Grubb’s statement, his claim arises following Sony’s cancellation of two more live-service games – one from Bend Studio, known for Days Gone, and another rumored to be a God of War title by Bluepoint Games. When considering all the cancelled Games as a Service projects by Sony, it presents a troubling outlook for the PlayStation division.
