These can vary from friendly encounters with hunters inviting you for a meal, hostile groups of bandits intending harm, or peculiar exchanges that leave you puzzled about the next step. For instance, if you meet a new character offering a drink, you might find yourself a bit wary of his true intentions.

In my gaming world, I’d rather skip the toast to Jonty’s health. The so-called father of his isn’t exactly truthful or honest – he’s a known liar and a thief. If you ask him about the brandy he’s offering, expect a tale spun with flattery about its grandeur. But don’t be fooled; if you take a swig, you’ll find it tastes like rotten fruit before it knocks you out cold for two whole hours on the road. Better to stick with a game of chess and a good ale at the local tavern instead.

When you wake up, you’ll find 50 Groshen less in your pockets. Fortunately, it seems that’s all he stole, as nothing else appears to be missing. So far, I haven’t crossed paths with this sneaky thief to seek my revenge, and since our encounters are random, you never know where or when he might show up.

In simpler terms, if a stranger approaches you at night claiming he wants to celebrate his newborn son, Jonty, firmly decline the offer and perhaps suggest that you’ve sent him a warning slap instead.
