Get ready to do a double take.
Indeed, it appears to be Lucius Malfoy departing from the Wizarding World and embarking on a vacation at The White Lotus.
Jason Isaacs, who portrayed Draco Malfoy’s father in the Harry Potter series from 2001 to 2011, will be one of the actors making their debut on The White Lotus when its third season premieres on HBO on February 16. Interestingly, Isaacs has undergone a significant transformation for his role as Timothy Ratliff, sporting a different hairstyle and clothing, and even adopting a Southern accent instead of his usual British one. In this new character, he plays a wealthy businessman named Timothy Ratliff who is vacationing with his wife and three children.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that there are other cast members who might seem recognizable to sharp-eyed viewers. In season three, Timothy goes to a luxurious hotel in Thailand with his wife Victoria (Parker Posey) and their children Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger), Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook), and Lochlan (Sam Nivola).
Fans of horror movies are likely familiar with actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who played Jennifer Jolie in “Scream 3,” and also portrayed Debbie Glatzel in “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
Regarding the rising heartthrobs of the next generation, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 31-year-old son has had a fair share of limelight, while Nivola, whose parents are Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola, gained popularity for his role as Will Winbury in ‘The Perfect Couple’, starring alongside Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber.
For Posey, being a part of the ensemble cast was a true “experience.”
Speaking with TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi during the premiere, she shared that her team spent nearly seven months working abroad, comprising of 11 talented actors. She described the experience as wild and akin to an experiment, noting that such experiences can profoundly impact one’s life. One of the highlights was getting a massage in Thailand for only $30.
However, it could be argued that the standout performer among them is Lalisa Manobal (formerly Pranpriya Manobal), more commonly known as Lisa, who teams up with Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé in the dynamic K-pop group Blackpink. This quartet has garnered the title of the most followed female band on Spotify and holds the record for the music group with the highest number of subscribers on YouTube, as recognized by the Recording Academy.
Could it be that Lisa’s fondness for “The White Lotus” predates its relocation to Thailand, which might have inspired her decision to venture into television?
She nearly shed tears when she learned she got the part, sharing this with TopMob. “I was driving with my loved ones unaware that I had auditioned for the character… They’re overjoyed for me.
Curious where you’ll recognize the rest of The White Lotus cast? Read on.
Have you taken notice of that? The solo artist famously recognized by a single name, Lisa, transitioned from being a global rockstar with the K-pop group Blackpink (which includes Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé), to assuming the White Lotus staff uniform for her first role as Mook.
It seems like, in a surprising twist of fate, Lucius Malfoy, the character I’ve always admired from the magical world of Harry Potter, has found himself in another luxurious setting – The White Lotus resort. Though he sports a new look without his iconic luscious blond mane, there’s no denying it’s him when he steps into the role of Timothy Ratliff, a wealthy businessman enjoying a vacation with his family.
Besides his past roles, Isaac has recently been seen on television shows such as Robot Chicken, The Great, and Sex Education (with his White Lotus co-star Aimee Lou Wood).
Instead of yelling upon encountering it, you might recognize Posey, the actress portraying Timothy’s wife Victoria Ratliff, from her films like “Superman Returns,” “Blade: Trinity,” “Scream 3” and “Dazed and Confused.” She has also made guest appearances on numerous TV series such as “Parks and Recreation,” “New Girl,” “Portlandia,” and “Search Party.
However, those truly devoted to romantic comedies would recognize her as Patricia Eden, Tom Hank’s girlfriend from the beloved 1998 film “You’ve Got Mail.
Although he is primarily recognized from family portraits as the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, he has previously established his acting prowess in shows such as “Gen V”, “The Terminal List”, and “The Staircase” before taking on the role of Saxon Ratliff in the third season.
Before playing the role of Piper, the Ratliffs’ daughter, Hook already had experience in horror and fantasy genres. Previously, she played Debbie Glatzel in “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It”, Juliette Fairmont in “First Kill”, and Elena Milak in “Monsterland”.
Apart from recognizing her as Caroline Merteuil in the 2024 remake of “Cruel Intentions”, you might be familiar with her from Ryan Murphy’s cinematic universe, where she portrayed Catherine Allday Davis in the series “Impeachment: American Crime Story”, which delved into the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky scandal.
Nivola, currently in a relationship with Iris Apatow, daughter of Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, joins the Ratliff family as Lochlan in the latest project. However, before embarking on the shores of Thailand, he was featured in another series centered around a wealthy beach family: “The Perfect Couple”, where he portrayed Will Winbury, the son of Greer and Tag Winbury, characters played by Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber respectively. Interestingly, he shared screen time with Meghann Fahy, a cast member from “White Lotus”, who previously appeared as Daphne Sullivan in season two of the HBO series and later portrayed Merritt Monaco on “The Perfect Couple”.
Nivola has additionally appeared in the films “White Noise” alongside Adam Driver, “Maestro” featuring Bradley Cooper, and “With/In” together with Anne Hathaway.
Absolutely, viewers of “White Lotus” will recall Rothwell from the first season where she portrayed spa guru Belinda in Maui. Interestingly, she is set to reappear in this role for season three. Furthermore, this talented actress has made appearances in shows like “Insecure”, “Wonka”, “A Year and Change”, and “Love, Simon”. Additionally, she demonstrated her comedic skills as a writer on “Saturday Night Live” from 2014 to 2015.
The actress who played Iron Man’s character is now gathering her forces to play the role of Kate in The White Lotus, following her portrayal of Christine Everhart in the Marvel series. Most recently, she appeared as Dinah Donahue in Palm Royale and as Grace Kennedy-Sampson in Jupiter’s Legacy.
In this new season, the actress known for her roles during the Gilded Age and in shows like The Sinner, Fargo, and The Leftovers takes on the character of Laurie. She travels to Thailand alongside friends Kate and Jaclyn for a women’s getaway.
In her role as Jaclyn on The White Lotus, she indeed portrays a TV star. However, off-screen, she’s not just acting; she’s been a part of several other TV series such as True Detective, Bad Monkey, Messiah, and The Path. When it comes to the silver screen, she has graced our eyes in Mission: Impossible – Fallout as Julia and Angie Genaro in Gone Baby Gone.
As a devoted follower, I can confidently assure you that your suspicion isn’t unfounded; indeed, it seems we both recognize Goggins from somewhere. Beyond starring in two movies directed by Quentin Tarantino (portraying Billy Crash in “Django Unchained” and Sheriff Chris Mannix in “The Hateful Eight”), he gained fame for his role as Boyd Crowder on the television series “Justified,” which aired from 2010 to 2015.
In the third season, a free-spirited character named Chelsea, portrayed by an English actress, enters the cast. This actress is popular for her role as Aimee Gibbs on Netflix’s Sex Education, and she has also been seen in Seize Them! and Daddy Issues. Her character embarks on an age-gap relationship with Rick Hatchett, played by Goggins.
