DC Just Revealed the Most Insane Green Lantern Yet

Through the years, Green Lanterns have shown some extraordinarily unusual and outlandish personalities, but DC vs. Vampires takes the cake with one of the wildest Lanterns yet. This extraordinary character unfolds in DC’s standalone issue, DC vs. Vampires: World War V Darkness and Light. Here, readers encounter a transformed Guy Gardner, who undergoes an appalling ordeal at the hands of Wonder Woman, only to miraculously endure through sheer determination. To make matters even more bizarre, this particular Gardner regenerates all his various body parts as constructs, and that’s just when he’s attempting to appear more human-like.

The book presents readers with the character Harper Row and explains how she comes to stand beside Wonder Woman. This situation eventually leads to a confrontation between Harper (now a Vampire) and Guy Gardner, who eliminates her using a vaporization technique. Despite this, Wonder Woman subsequently splits Gardner in two. However, contrary to expectations, Gardner does not perish from these incidents.

In the second tale of the book, we encounter Alfred Pennyworth, now sporting a battered appearance and possessing the Green Lantern ring. However, he struggles to harness its full potential, often finding it hard even to activate it effectively. Josh Jacam rescues him, and they journey together to a cave. In this subterranean lair, they meet Gardner, who at this juncture has transformed into a half-serpent construct. A captivating narrative is etched on the ground.

Gardner’s lower half exhibits frequent transformations, taking the forms of a spider, a snake, and at times, fully human. However, due to the severe injury inflicted by Wonder Woman, he has had to manufacture most of his own organs to sustain himself. A particularly strange scene depicts a gerbil running on a treadmill inside him, making it difficult to overstate the surreal nature of this scenario.

As a passionate cinephile, I’ve found myself transforming into peculiar forms – chicken legs, tentacles, and the lower half of a Zebra, just to name a few. Yet, Gardner has been patiently imparting his wisdom on how to harness the power of the ring and fortitude, passing these skills onto me, Alfred.

In our upcoming adventure, we’ll take on Wonder Woman, where Gardner will assume the shapes of a bee, a tentacled creature, and even a robot. Incredibly, despite all this metamorphosis, it appears that Gardner is still alive and kicking, using his last breaths to fine-tune me into an exceptional Green Lantern.

[Official Description: In the latest installment of DC Comics’ Green Lantern series, Gardner adopts various forms – chicken legs, tentacles, zebra lower half, bee, tentacled creature, and robot – to train Alfred in the art of being a better Green Lantern. The two eventually face off against Wonder Woman, with Gardner transforming into these shapes to aid Alfred. Despite these transformations, it is revealed that Gardner is still alive and has been using his remaining energy to mold Alfred into an exceptional Green Lantern.]

In an intriguing twist, “Wonder Woman,” once a resident of Themyscira who has since become a vampire, and “Alfred,” formerly the Wayne family’s butler, now transformed into a Green Lantern, find their lives intertwined in unexpected ways. Despite their vastly different journeys, they will both be compelled to reassess the essence of survival in a world dominated by darkness. This double-issue special delves into two perspectives, revealing how rage and vengeance can either shatter or empower; whether it’s a destructive force or a means of redemption.

In a unique storyline, Wonder Woman (who is now a vampire) and Alfred (who is now a Green Lantern) face similar challenges in a dark world. They must reconsider the true meaning of survival. The special double-issue explores how anger and vengeance can lead to ruin or salvation for both characters.
