Shakira's Hospitalization Forces Tour Cancellation: Fans Anxiously Await Updates

Shakira is sharing an update on her health.

The performer behind the hit song “Waka Waka,” currently on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, was compelled to call off her February 16th show in Peru due to a hospitalization.

Apologies for the unfortunate news, but last night I ended up at the emergency room due to a problem with my abdomen. As of now, I’m still hospitalized and my doctors have shared that my condition isn’t strong enough to carry out tonight’s plans.

Shakira, mother of sons Milan (12) and Sasha (10), along with her former partner Gerard Piqué, expressed sadness about not being able to perform tonight. She mentioned that she had eagerly anticipated reconnecting with her amazing fans in Peru.

Shakira expressed her anticipation for being freed, allowing her to take the stage at Estadio Nacional on both February 16th and 17th, stating, “I look forward to feeling well enough tomorrow to give a great performance.

The performer known as the “Whenever, Wherever” artist mentioned that her team and event organizers are currently arranging a fresh date as a replacement for the February 16th concert.

“Thank you all for your understanding,” she concluded her note, “I love you all.”

Shakira’s tour began on Feb. 11 at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Rio! I couldn’t have wished for a more fantastic audience to start this tour!” she wrote in her Instagram post on February 12 about her performance. “Thanks for the outpouring of love, affection, and vitality that made for an incredible evening!

The following day, she performed at Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo.

At the beginning of February, Shakira was accompanied by her sons at the 2025 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. There, she received the award for Best Latin Pop Album for “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran“. Just before this achievement, Shakira took a moment to contemplate her personal and career path.

During the Live From TopMob: Grammys on Feb. 2, Shakira shared that she has significantly grown and gained a wealth of knowledge. She mentioned that life hasn’t always been easy, but it has served as an invaluable educator for her.

In February 2025, an actress from Even Stevens revealed that she had been accidentally shot in the face during a trip to shoot clay targets as part of her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday celebrations.

As an overjoyed fan, I can’t help but express my gratitude towards the internet for playing a pivotal role in helping Amy Schumer uncover some medical mysteries. Here’s how she put it herself during her appearance on Call Her Daddy:

“After going through a flurry of interviews, the internet wasn’t exactly gentle with me, but I said, ‘Alright folks, take it easy,'” Amy reminisced about her noticeably swollen face in January 2025. “However, medical professionals started chiming in on comments saying, ‘No no, something seems off here.’ And I was left thinking, ‘Is the internet trolling me now with doctors?'”

Amy explained, “I’d been getting these steroid injections, so it led to this condition called Cushing syndrome, which I might not have discovered if the internet hadn’t piled on me so intensely.”

Now that Amy has received a proper diagnosis and learned that her particular form of Cushing will resolve itself naturally, she is beyond relieved. As she expressed in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Discovering that I have a type of Cushing syndrome which will eventually correct itself and leaves me healthy was the most heartening news I could ever imagine.

Hailey Bieber had a terrifying experience in March 2022 when she suffered symptoms similar to a stroke while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. As she tried to respond to his questions, she could not speak and her face drooped on one side. Despite the symptoms subsiding, Hailey decided to go to the hospital for a check-up.

Doctors found that Hailey had experienced a small clot in her brain, known as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). After further investigation at UCLA, they discovered she had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The blood clot traveled through this hole to her brain, causing the TIA.

Hailey underwent a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now feeling well.

In the same year when Hailey faced her health crisis, I too encountered my own health predicament – Ramsay Hunt syndrome. This rare condition, in June 2022, brought temporary paralysis to certain areas of my face, compelling me to postpone the rest of my Justice World Tour.

In a heartfelt Instagram video, I explained that this virus attacked nerves in my ear and facial area, leading to facial paralysis. As you can see, one eye didn’t blink, I couldn’t smile on half of my face, and my nostril on the affected side remained stationary – indicating full paralysis on that side.

I shared with my followers that it became progressively harder for me to eat during this time, but thankfully, the paralysis eventually subsided.

Hailey expressed her relief on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America, stating, “He’s doing really well,” and later adding, “He’s feeling a lot better… I’m just grateful that he’s fine.

Initially, Jamie Foxx chose not to disclose details about his hospitalization in April 2023. However, during his 2024 Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was…”, he revealed the ordeal he experienced. One day in Atlanta, the Academy Award winner described a severe headache that led him to ask for an aspirin. Before he could obtain one, he fainted and lost consciousness for approximately 20 days.

There, it was discovered that Jamie had suffered a brain hemorrhage resulting in a stroke. Twenty days following surgery, he woke up on May 4 in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

“I can only express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “as I truly needed each and every one of them.

Actress Emilia Clarke, famously known for her role in ‘Game of Thrones’, penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” in 2019. In this piece, she described a harrowing experience she had at the gym where she was struck with a severe headache that led to vomiting profusely. As the pain intensified, she realized her brain was affected.

Subsequently, she was rushed to the hospital for a scan which revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She had suffered an aneurysm, a rupture in an artery. The surgery to seal the aneurysm was agonizing, she wrote.

During her recovery, she faced aphasia and found herself uttering meaningless words. However, a week later, the aphasia subsided, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month.

In 2013, during a routine scan, it was discovered that the growth had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery. Upon waking up from the procedure, she was in excruciating pain as it had failed. The doctors informed her that her chances of survival were slim if they didn’t operate again. This time, they needed to access her brain through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia is now reportedly in perfect health.

Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family for their support following a severe stroke she experienced in January 2024. After informing them about the incident and sending a picture as proof, her loved ones immediately rushed to her aid. Due to additional health issues related to lupus, Cori remained hospitalized longer than anticipated. She stated that her kidneys were failing and there were multiple complications. Currently, Cori is recovering well and working to regain some motor skills. However, she assured that aside from this minor setback, she was generally fine.

In her 20s, Shailene Woodley‘s health took a challenging turn. At one point, she lost hearing, struggled to walk for extended periods without needing long rests, and had stomach issues with nearly every food she consumed. This combination of health problems, along with various conflicting diagnoses from different doctors, left her seeking answers.

Given her background in holistic medicine and herbalism, Shailene decided to work with both traditional medical professionals and independent healers to find relief. This quest for wellness took a decade. During this time, the difficulties she faced physically led to other issues such as fear of food due to stomach pain, body dysmorphia, identity confusion, and feelings of insecurity and uncertainty about her own self-image.

After focusing on both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now feeling much better. She shared that her long journey eventually led to a resolution of her physical issues, and she is pleased to say that she is currently healthy.
