When it comes to Pedro Pascal’s latest confession, you should hear this, too.
The star from “The Last of Us”, who was a hit when he hosted “Saturday Night Live” last year, returned to Rockefeller Center for “SNL 50: The Anniversary Special”. During a conversation with alum Leslie Jones about the pressures of hosting, he made a playful joke.
Pedro shared on the red carpet of the special event that the intricate structure provides a sense of calm amidst his panic. He elaborated that the formalities and ceremonies involved keep his mind occupied, leaving no room for other thoughts. Moreover, he mentioned that it’s not just mental distraction but also physical engagement – they literally guide him from every direction. (Check out all the stars in attendance here.)
Reflecting on my past, I can’t help but recall a phrase that echoes vividly in my mind. As a former team member, I would often find myself advising our host, “Go ahead and submit!” This simple instruction became my mantra during those days.
In response to Pedro’s statement, Leslie was left tongue-tied. However, Pedro reinforced his words emphatically by saying, “Indeed, I am!
Besides Pedro, several other past hosts are making a comeback for the momentous anniversary special at 30 Rock. Notable stars who have previously filled the high-pressure role and are now back include Emma Stone, Paul Rudd, Quinta Brunson, and Peyton Manning.
Besides the previously known hosts, numerous former cast members, writers, and crew members associated with the show in past years came back, among them were Maya Rudolph, Garrett Morris, Amy Poehler, Seth Meyers, and Tina Fey. Notably, Tina Fey expressed a sense of nostalgia, stating that coming back felt like returning home.
Tina shared with Leslie on the red carpet this week, “It’s been exhilarating being in this building. It seems like everyone is returning home. It feels like a big family reunion with siblings and cousins. Plus, it’s amazing to watch professionals rehearse and perform. It’s incredibly exciting!
54-years-old, who played significant roles such as head writer, Weekend Update co-anchor, and staff writer for the special, also shared memories of her first day working on the show.
“The first day I had to come to the building, I walked in, and I remember saying to the to the security, ‘I’m here to see Lorne Michaels,’” she said. “And I was like, ‘It’s crazy.’ And I floated out of my body—that I think that was like the main memory I have.”
