In a fresh interpretation, Dragon Ball Daima has revitalized the concept of Super Saiyan 4, placing its power at par with divine forms. The series, which began celebrating its 40th anniversary last Fall, has taken Goku on an entirely new journey through the Demon Realm. Though this narrative is a fresh creation from late author Akira Toriyama, it still carries a sense of nostalgia as several new elements are reimagined versions of ideas initially conceived during the non-canonical events of Dragon Ball GT.
In the animated series “Dragon Ball Daima,” there are deliberate links to the events of “Dragon Ball GT” as several major concepts have been integrated into the official Dragon Ball timeline. One of the most significant examples is the recent episode where Goku undergoes a new type of Super Saiyan 4 transformation. This revamped version, however, stands out for its intense red coloration, suggesting it falls within the same power level as Super Saiyan God.
Super Saiyan 4’s Power Level Has to Fit Into the Dragon Ball Timeline
To assess the power level of Goku’s latest Super Saiyan 4 form, one crucial factor is the positioning of “Dragon Ball Daimao” in the storyline timeline. This new series takes place after the Majin Buu arc but before the Battle of Gods, which means it can’t introduce significant changes that might alter the course of events we’ve witnessed in future arcs of Dragon Ball Super. Any newly introduced forms or abilities for Goku and Vegeta would naturally be less powerful than their later ones, as not showing those forms again could raise questions about why they weren’t used earlier.
In simpler terms, the introduction of the new Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball Daima settles the discussion. This form is created by Neva’s potent Namekian magic, making it unlikely for Goku to achieve it again. Moreover, its power level aligns with that of Super Saiyan God. A brief aura similar to Super Saiyan God’s flames surrounds Goku during the transformation, and his hair resembles a more untamed version of Super Saiyan God’s. Therefore, it can be considered as powerful as Super Saiyan God. Consequently, when Goku and Vegeta aim to master this instead of a less polished form of this power displayed in this state, it seems logical to do so.
Dragon Ball Daima Nerfs All Of its Fighters
In simpler terms, having Super Saiyan 4 form equal to Super Saiyan God might explain why Goku no longer strives for this transformation, as it logically fits within the storyline of “Dragon Ball Daima.” However, even in this enhanced state, Goku is not powerful enough to match the Supreme Demon King Gomah, as demonstrated in the episode. Moreover, throughout the series, “Dragon Ball Daima” has consistently scaled back the abilities of characters like Goku, which could be why he doesn’t use this form anymore.
In “Dragon Ball Daimao,” they’ve had to cap the power levels displayed in the series, as they didn’t want to contradict the events of “Dragon Ball Super.” Consequently, any new form introduced would only reach a power level equivalent to Super Saiyan God at best. Placing Super Saiyan 4 within this power range was an inventive solution, albeit one that sets a limit on the form’s overall potential. However, as “Dragon Ball Super” continues to unfold new tales in the future, there’s a possibility that Super Saiyan 4 could reappear with further evolutions of the form.
