A week ago, Miriana Conte first appeared on Kant’s performance, causing speculation about whether its lyrics might be too mature for television viewers.

Indeed, Conte clarified that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has approved her song, so there will be no modifications to it.

2016 marked the beginning of Conte’s professional journey, and she was among the 16 contestants chosen to vie for the opportunity to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest of 2017. However, unfortunately, she ended up in last place during that competition.

Nevertheless, even though the lyrics are harmless, it was the perceived meaning or tone of the song that reportedly gave the BBC, who air the semi-finals and finals for UK viewers, a bit of a headache.

On his radio program, Scott Mills, known as one of the presenters of Eurovision, stated, “We are strictly prohibited from discussing Malta’s entry at all. It is absolutely off-limits to play a snippet of it… not even once, on the BBC.

In reaction to Mills’s remarks, Conte communicated to LovinMalta: “I noticed the piece on social media regarding the BBC matter, but I don’t have a lot to add. However, I can comprehend their role as a broadcasting station and their nation’s perspective.

Following her victory at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, granting her the opportunity to represent Malta in this year’s event, Conte openly stated that the song could be seen as contentious; however, she’s wholeheartedly accepting it.
