Shocking Absences: Stars Who Skipped SNL's 50th Anniversary Celebration!

During the Studio 8H’s special event commemorating 50 years of Saturday Night Live on February 16, a multitude of famous faces from the show’s prestigious past gathered together – people like Pete Davidson, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, John Mulaney, Bill Murray, Steve Martin, and Kristen Wiig, to mention a few. However, some notable figures were absent from the celebration.

To illustrate, let’s consider Dan Aykroyd, a founding cast member, who graced our screens in every season from the first to the fourth, from 1975 to 1979.

Though he was absent from the crowd, the 72-year-old did give a shout out to the celebration.

On February 14th, he proudly reminisced about being one of SNL’s co-founders alongside our team from four decades ago, stating that this broadcast was as significant as the next moon landing. Stars like Dana Carvey, Colin Quinn, and Bill Hader were absent from the grand celebration, leaving many enthusiasts disappointed.

In a Volkswagen advertisement, Hader portrayed Devin alongside Wiig as Karina, and Fred Armisen as Stuart, reviving “The Californians” – a humorous spoof of a daytime drama, set in sunny California.

In a characteristically over-the-top Valley girl tone, Wiig expressed gratitude towards Devin for their rendezvous at Malibu beach, off Highway 1. She added that she had truly missed him.
