Players of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet get another chance to acquire the uncommon Paradox Pokemon, Walking Wake and Iron Leaves, in a series of Tera Raid battles. These Pokemon have been made available before, but can only be obtained through these special events. If you’re a newer player of Pokemon Scarlet or Violet, or if you need these two to complete your Pokedex, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. The Tera Raids are set to start on Friday, February 21st, and will continue through the 27th of the month.
In the games Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, Walking Wake is exclusive to Scarlet, while Iron Leaves can only be found in Violet. But don’t worry, players of each version will have access to their respective Tera Raids within their own game copies. So, for example, Pokemon Scarlet players can participate in Iron Leaves Tera Raids online, and Violet players can do the same for Walking Wake. However, it’s important to note that these Pokemon can only be caught once per save file. This event is essentially a chance for players who missed out previously to catch up. All players are welcome to join in the fun to earn in-game rewards or lend a hand to those struggling with 5-Star battles.
In their encounters, players will face off against The Walking Wake, which features a Water Tera type. To maximize its weaknesses, it’s advisable to have a powerful Electric or Grass Pokemon at the ready. Conversely, Iron Leaves boasts a Psychic Tera type, making Dark or Ghost Pokemon beneficial in this matchup. Just like all Paradox Pokemon, Walking Wake and Iron Leaves are modeled after previous game characters; Walking Wake resembles the Legendary Suicune, while Iron Leaves is inspired by the Legendary Virizion.
The culmination of the Waking Wake and Iron Leaves event is scheduled on February 27th, marking a significant day in our calendar. This date also signifies Pokemon Day, an annual celebration commemorating the Japanese release date for both Pokemon Red and Green versions. At present, no official announcements have been made by The Pokemon Company regarding this year’s event. However, past events usually include a Pokemon Presents livestream, along with various activities occurring on or near that day. For instance, last year we witnessed special lighting at the Empire State Building featuring Captain Pikachu in costume and an exclusive Pokemon Go promotion for local players.
As a dedicated Pokémon gamer, I’m pretty sure this year’s Pokémon Day celebration is going to center around the upcoming game, “Pokémon Legends: Z-A”. This game was first unveiled on last year’s Pokémon Day and is scheduled for release in 2025. Next week, we might get some exciting new details about it, which could mean that the spotlight will move away from “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet” once they’re out. So, if you haven’t participated in events like the Walking Wake or Iron Leaves Tera Raids yet, now might be the perfect time to do so before they become a thing of the past!
